The Mizzou fans who made the trip to our Columbia were very good people. Enjoyed tailgating and talking with them before and after the game. Very classy and nice. Wish you the best of luck the rest of the season.

maybe we'll bring a more typical turnout to Columbia, SC next time. I'm not sure why our fans are so hesitant to travel there. We travel better everywhere else I have seen/been to.

Hope next time your band can make it. No airport fires or anything.

There is nothing special about our band. You didn't miss anything.

Not sure how many tickets were sent to Mizzou but there was a decent amount of fans considering the distance to travel. A lot more than Arkansas ever brought.

One of my friends had a pretty good picture showing the Mizzou fans. They did have a decent turnout. Not sure about the upper section in the SEZ because I sit directly under it, but the Oklahoma visitor section was mostly empty/gamecock fans.

I enjoy our Marching Mizzou and greatly missed their presence. I feared a jinx, when they couldn't travel due to whacko starting fire in ARTCC and causing flight cancellations.

SC fans made a great showing with that white towel waving.
I know I have seen other schools doing same. Mizzou fans ought to follow suit.

Are they sold at stadium, passed out and returned...or what?

I remember it was actually started by one family I think. It was called the Cocky Cloth, and I remember someone posting on Cockytalk about it. Saying that 30,000 will be available the first time.

It slowly caught on. This was back in...2008? It started out as just the students. Then they started handing them out at games for free. They still put them in the students seats for them. Everyone else has to buy one or bring their own. Not sure if they still give them out for free. I'm sure they do occasionally.

ETA: Apparently the creators sued the University. No idea what came of it.

quote:

The creators of the “Cocky Cloth” — those white towels USC students waved at the Gamecocks’ final three home football games last season — have sued the university for breach of contract, claiming officials reneged on the agreed-upon split on sales of the rally towels. Chris and John Wilder, brothers from Barnwell and lifelong USC fans, are seeking damages for lost income their attorney says would have topped $100,000 over the three years of the agreement.

The suit, filed in March in Richland County, names the university, ISP Sports, which is the Gamecocks’ media rights holder, Gamecock Sports Properties, the local division of ISP, and Barnes & Noble as the defendants.

The suit alleges the Wilders reached an agreement with Eric Stahl of Gamecock Sports Properties to give towels to students at no charge at the final three home games (LSU, Tennessee and Arkansas) and sell them for $5 throughout Williams-Brice Stadium. The brothers would receive 85 percent of the proceeds and USC would get the remainder, according to the suit.

Thanks

I think the white probably would show up best and be easy to purchase in bulk. Kinda funny, though, cause would not want the waving to be construed as a white flag.

Are we sure that's her middle finger? She could be asking Spurrier to "put a ring on it"... It's just such a shitty angle we may never know.

They were really nice to me my freshman year in 2008 when my buddy and I went to Columbia, Mo. on a whim to the OK State-Mizzou game. It was loaded with future NFL players like Dez Bryant, Justin Blackman, Kendall Hunter, Jeremy Maclin, Chase Daniel, Chase Coffman, so on and so on.

Neither of us knew a soul from either school. We went up to a fraternity house, made friends and they took us in. They gave us a place to stay, free booze and food all weekend, and gave us two tickets 20 rows up for $45 combined.

Good people up there but the drive from Oxford to Columbia sucks balls, looking at you Arkansas.
