That is where you lost me. I get he wants to take the chance but at that age and getting near the end of his working life seems he would want to boost that retirement money now. Thanks for your explanation but if he has a wife and kids seems the risk / reward is not a good one.

I think you're missing the point. I'm sure he's probably been smart with his money. He makes good money and Mizzou and he'll make good money at Missouri State. He'll never be rich but he can live comfortably. At this point in his life, it is probably about not having regrets when he's done, so he's going to go do what his dream had always been, to be the HC. So no, he's not doing it for the money. He's not doing it for the positioning for a later job. He's doing it so 10 years from he won't have a regret for having never become a HC.

Whoa!!!

Need to make sure Muschamp is aware of this! Sure he would forego the AU job if he is told of this new opportunity.

Worst hire ever for that school. Completely botched it.

I'm sure Steckle will do a decent job but they won't get any support where needed and from people ready to give it.

As a Tide fan I can tell you that nothing can go wrong by promoting a d line coach. In fact, you should probably start an old school fax campaign to make him your HC.

Barry Odom

As long as Kul is....well, cool with staying on as DL. Give him more money. Whatever.

You bring in Barry Odom if he wants to come.

He did a good job at Mizzou and has done a great job at Memphis. Plus he is almost 10 years younger than Coach Kul.

I think Coach Kul gets a big raise either way.

Yes, the very obvious choice here is Barry Odom and Id be very happy with it.

The choice is obvious, offer to double Muschamps pay and steal him away from Auburn.

Stec was Associate Head Coach and DC. Instead of both to one guy, split the titles up.

Odom DC.

Kul Associate Head Coach/DL.

Just like we have:

Henson OC.

Hill Associate Head Coach/QB's.

Auburn can win the dick measuring contest. Not our style.

Riiiight. If only we could return to the Yost days, then everybody would be so happy.
So our choices are Henson and Yost.
Interdasting.
Well jeepers if those are the only two OCs we can ever get Henson is better than Yost. In the same way a full dumpster is much preferable to a full dumpster on fire.
You are correct sir!

The problem with fans...

Henson was awesome last year. HCIW material. Now he needs to be fired.

Didn't have the horses on offense this year. Sad, but true.

The problem with fans....

Henson was decent to above average last year. He had a lot of good players. He was decent this year. Yost sucked all the time.

It would be nice to have a top end OC. Maybe we can't get one. Still would be nice

Was Stec pushed out?

The man is taking a significant pay cut to make this move. That just doesn't add up, literally!

I wonder if Pink was told to make some changes due to Stec's failures in the championship game.

I'd be shocked if Steckel was forced out on the heels of his best job ever as a D coordinator.

Alabama won the SECCG because of their superior athleticism, particularly with their DLine v. our OLine.

This is a good chance to add a new assistant with SEC recruiting ties. I'd be on board with promoting coach Kul, and bringing in a new position coach with some proven ability to recruit in the areas we're trying to break into now.

You know, I hear all this talk in this thread about needing a new high end OC... I am just hoping you don't steal Chaney from us. He'd be a great fit for your system. You can surprise opponents with triple reverses inside the six yard line.

You know, I hate to say it, but there is probably a decent chance if you steal Chaney from us that you could get Brandon Allen to transfer to your school as well. Our OC and starting QB.

You do have an all you can eat buffet somewhere in town don't you? That is pretty much a requirement for hiring Chaney.
