if the SEC comes out against Pinkel and their players they will get the wrath of the liberal POS media and Jessie Jackson and his ilk. They would be best to do nothing at this point since most of the P5 schools have a huge # of blacks who probably sympathize with the Mizz players. Like a brother hood.

Pinkel handled the situation so badly that he may very well never recover from it.

Just wait until a football player gets reported to the police for hurtful comments or something. It'll be hilarious to watch Pinkel backpedal so fast.

the AD and Pink. supporting the players against the school prez. is akin to the CFO supporting employees on strike and not supporting the CEO of the company

The SEC won't get involved with the mess nor should they. When the actions of Mizzou start to hurt the revenue stream for such things as willfully not playing games, bowls, etc., then the SEC will step in for breach of contract, etc.

No its like upper management of a subsidiary (athletic department) holding the parent company hostage (entire University)

And if it would have happened, the SEC would claim breach of contract and go after them that way. And they should if it ever gets to that point.

I agree with you but the backlash against the SEC would be huge

And now he has a divided locker room. Try getting around that.

I've been wondering about that ... I figured that locker room has to have problems from this point forward. It's been one thing after another at Mizzou, surely this is about to catch-up with them.

A Mizzou prof only makes $57K/year? We start our rookie cops out higher than that.

Yep. They can try to talk around it but there are people in that locker room that has to be upset with their fellow teammates and the coaches. Time will tell if Pinkel makes it out. My bet is he doesn't as he has lost not just some players and coaches respect, but a huge portion of respect from those that actually pay the bills.

I imagine there are players contacting the compliance office on how they go about transferring out of that dumpster fire

GP was willing to forfeit a game if this went much longer. That is unacceptable.

This is my problem with Pinkel and his stance, and it is why I am not going to the game Saturday.

I heard that interview earlier. That was a bad interview for Pinkel. Very unprepared for those questions. Especially when asked if some of the players wanted to strike against the nutty professor not being fired. He was asked if he would support his players then? He is digging himself a deeper hole.

yep, claiming ignorance after the fact and "I was just trying to do the right thing" shows how far out of his element Pinkel is at pretty much anything requiring creative intelligence.

Before you support something or support your team supporting something, shouldn't you really need to know the facts?

The interview was w/ a guy named Kietzman on KC radio, that guy is already known to hate Mizzou, the fact that Pinkel didn't realize it was going to be a "hostile" interview also speaks to his lack of awareness. He's been in over his head for a long time, it's just taken an event to draw the spotlight for people to realize it.

maybe Pink had been drinking when he chose to side with the players.

I know you guys get worked up about clay travis, but he's actually incredibly good with this type issue:

quote:

But if the school refuses to pay the players then they either have to field a team of regular students -- this would be incredible television, watching frat intramural stars just get blown up all over the field -- or they forfeit their games, violating their contractual obligations to their conference and television network partners, opening themselves up to millions of dollars in losses and millions in contractual damages.

Clay is actually very good when he wants to be. It's his obsession with all things Bama that drives us nuts.

So the SEC should take no stance against a member institution being taken over by radical black terrorists?
