I try not to be overtly blind when it comes to SEC teams and out of conference play. I fully believe that many teams could perform well against the best SEC teams (Boise included) in a one game scenario. So it would be dumb for me to say that either Mizzou or A&M will 100% lose to any team on their schedule. However, I do think where everything will catch up is the week after week matchups with quality teams. Injuries happen to every team in every league, but the question is how much depth do you have and can you overcome it. LSU, and South Carolina to an extent, showed this year that no one player makes or breaks their team. Oklahoma showed that losing one great receiver ruined their season.

To extend an olive branch, the Big 12 was fairly deep as well this year. See Iowa St and Texas Tech.

Sure. I agree.

Mizzou lost many players too including the nation's best running back, but Mizzou still ended strong. They did it with a new and untested quarterback. Therefore, Mizzou proved that they could adjust and players had to step up. I believe that this year's Big 12 schedule was just as nasty as any other schedule out there.

The SEC is a grind, no doubt. But when I look at A&M's schedule, the one thing that stands out is the strategic use of SEC bye weeks / patsy OOC games during the season.

A&M is welcoming this for a change; for the last couple of years, we had a bye the 2nd week of the season and then had to rattle off 8-9 games in a row without a week off.

So the caliber has competition has gone up, but there's some "pauses" built into the schedule.

Having 3 straight home games then 3 road games to end the yr is odd. But I can't complain every schedule is tough. Hopefully a home games is added in November. M-I-Z-S-E-C

Not worried about A&M. We've had a good track record against them for the past few years...

Very excited about the schedule! That said, I'm realistic about the coming season. We have to prepare for 7 new conference teams, all of which will be gunning for us. That's a lot to prep for. Given that, if we can go .500 in conference play, I'll be satisfied. I think it's likely we'll lose 1 or 2 we shouldn't, and surprise a few who overlook us. It'll be a year of transition and adjustment.

I like our offense, and think we'll be OK there - we do some things I'm not sure SEC teams have seen. On the other hand, our defense needs some work. We're used to playing high-powered offenses and game planning for that - some of the soft coverages we used in the Big Tejas Conference won't work in the SEC.

Can't wait to have some new teams in Columbia West, and visit some new places!

I agree. South Carolina's no pushover. But I think Mizzou can win that game. I think it'll be a close game. Less than a touchdown for whomever wins.

Honestly, South Carolina troubles me more than Georgia. We won't be favored in either of those two games but we have all off-season to prepare for UGA at home. We are on the road at Columbia (lol), our first SEC road game.

That'll be another adjustment for us - conference games in September. The Big 12 backloads its conference schedule, and all our non-cons have been played before conference play starts. It'll be different to spread them out through the season, but I think it'll be a good change overall. The way we've done it, we get a long tune-up; this way, we'll be able to give ourselves breaks from the SEC schedule. Makes it even more important to get all the kinks worked out in the summer.

How good does it feel to not be part of such a POS conference, like the Big 12? Good grief the SEC rules man

My god does it feel awesome to be out from the big bevo! Lets just say on our schedule I don't want to get myself too worked up, but anywhere between 7&9 regular season wins is a success in my mind for the 1st year in a new conference

South Carolina is no slouch. They were the best team in the East this year. Caught a bad break with the schedule and a terrible break losing Lattimore. He'll be back next year.

Actually I think losing Lattimore showed how good our team (especially the defense) is. After losing Lattimore we finished 4-1, with the one loss @Arky. But included a 34-13 win over ACC Chump and Orange Bowl participant Clempson. We are 9-1 vs the East over the last 2 years and have a legit shot at going 15-1 by the end of next season. @UF or UGA at home won't be easy but we should be favored in all of our games vs Eastern opponents.. Mizzou included.

It feels GREAT! I'm already pulling for SEC teams whereas I would NEVER pull for other conference foes (I did root for tejas when they played So Cal for the championship awhile back.)

Baylor was playing ok, and they beat us (barely). But I was not rooting for them because THEY ARE NOT IN THE SEC.

MU - going to SECCG next year!

frick you, you cock sucking prick. In the SEC, you should be equal. What if the tie breaker is divisional record? The tu mentality would be to stack the deck against the newcomers.

frick you.
