I think that was my pre-season prediction and I'll stand by it still.

Aren't you the one Grayback got on for being safe/not opinionated enough that had the same prediction as me?

Don't go fricking me up and leave me looking like the optimist here.

No you're right. We had nearly the same picks. Maybe I picked 7-5 too. Frick I don't know. Another beer and maybe I'll remember.

Ballsy, especially after tonight.

Care to share your reasoning? I tend to sit on the optimist "Mizzou will always do well when everyone expects us to do bad" side. It's just hard this year.

Not sure what game you were watching, but my take was far different. This game was night and day different than Southeastern Louisiana last year. In that game, the offense struggled alot. The offense today was really crisp. Good run blocking, Franklin had a lot of time. Franklin was also pretty sharp.

The defense struggled early, but then completely shut down Murray State. After the first quarter Mizzou out scored them 45-0. That is with going deep into the bench in the 3rd quarter.

Also last year we had only 9 plays of 30 yards or longer all season. We came close to matching that just tonight.

This is actually true. D was responsible for a ton of points in our first game last year.

Like I said, I may be a little too negative.

I went into this season saying over and over I didn't know what to expect. It's been the hardest season for me to predict since I've been trying (Probably 10 years).

My first impression wasn't great, I may be looking too much into that first impression, but I didn't like what I felt when the defense was sucking against Murray State.

The D did settle in and really get down to it, but I didn't like seeing that Murray State could impose their will against our D, and I don't like now knowing that the D has that kind of quarter in them at all. I'd hate to see it come out again once against someone with better talent, and has the offensive talent to impose their will at a much higher level than Murray State.

I'm more than open to the fact that I'm being overly negative.

I'm comparing it to last year, which is all I have to go on for this year. I am not worried now about this offense being able to move the ball. Will we put up 58 points through the conference? No way. But the quality of receivers we have, the play calling of Henson, the running backs we have, and Franklin being accurate down field, I am very optimistic about the offense.

The defense was bad early.

And that is very concerning. We aren't going to be able to compete in barn-burners against SEC defenses. We may average 20-24 pts/game, so we'll need the defense to play big. Hopefully the first quarter was just shaking off the rust.

Yeah, this year's offense seems to be a little bit better than last year's pending any injuries.

I'm just hoping the D can hold up their end of the deal, we don't need them to be dominant to get a winning season, but we do need them to be competent. They certainly weren't competent tonight for a portion of the game versus the BCS opponent.

I love all our players, which is something I don't think many people can say about their team. I love the family atmosphere we have, and I think that will help them band together and improve more than one would normally expect. I truly believe they're all real mizzou players through and through, and I'm glad to have them here. I just hope they can hold their own when the shite comes down. Hopefully the family atmosphere allows them to play potentially above their talent level and make that happen.
