Chances are if it's been that way for awhile it may have been considered as grandfathered in anyway. Just like Vandy's whole setup.

To be fair, I don't think anyone on our coaching staff or in our athletic department has ever seen a full Reed Arena, so I don't think they would know any better.

Wow, maybe there is a honest disconnect here. By end, they mean end of the court/floor. Visiting bench and student section cant be on the same side/ half of the court. The SEC made Mizzou switch its bench with the visitors for this reason.
