In '97 and '98, UT won 9 in a row. UT won 12 in a row from '37-41. Looking at it...they haven't had streaks longer than 6 games other than those two.

-Win the east and lose the SECCG (let's say by a respectable 10 points), which adds another loss and sends you down 1 in teh bowl pecking order and the rankings, but adds another east title
-Not win the east, but end up going to a better bowl game and having a higher ranking, but obviously not winning any sort of division/conference title?
If that better bowl game means it's part of the playoffs, obviously I'd take the higher ranking and being part of the playoffs. Otherwise, I'm sure the winner of the east will end up in a decent bowl and I'll take east title and its bowl game.

Well this argument sounds familiar.
Just a bit.

Well yeah that's assumed, but for this hypothetical we're assuming the playoff isn't an option.
It's basically, would you rather win the east, then tack on another loss and play in say the outback....or not win the east and play in the citrus or peach or something.

Well if they win 12 in a row, beating Arkansas and Georgia on the road, Mizzou would be the odds on favorite to threepeat as SEC East champs.
I think they drop one to either the Hogs or the Dawgs. A lose to us would be annoying I'm sure, but losing to the Dawgs would give Georgia the driver's seat in the East. Georgia does have a fairly salty schedule this year though.
If I were a betting man I'd wager there is a really good chance that Mizzou comes into Arkansas on the final week of the season with a shot at the East crown still alive.

I think you always have to take winning the conference.
Plus winning the East 3x in a row is a hell of an accomplishment.

No doubt win the division, bowls that are not the playoffs are just bowls.

Alabama won 9 straight from 2008-2010. And 11 straight from 2011-2013. And currently has 3 straight.

Tennessee has won 2 straight. Looking forward to Florida to extend it to 3...then, probably choking at Bryant-Denny.

I'm still pretty damn stoked that we are winning more than losing. I, for one, certainly don't expect anything, especially road wins or SEC East Titles.

Honest question for missouri fans. And don't say "well, I choose none fo the above, I choose us winnign it all and going to the playoffs!!!!!!" because that's not one of the options ok.
Go to the SECCG. You can never win a championship if you are not in the championship game. Maybe there are some illegal players for the other team and the game is forfeited to MU. Not an ideal way to win a SECCG but you do not have that option if you do not play in the game

If that streak is still going no way in hayull it leaves Athens in tact next yr. history says we'll lay an egg somewhere, but it won't be vs the defending East champ.

Sorry we messed up your streak.

Yet they've only beat two sec teams that finished their season with a winning record since joining the conference.

It will end at georgia unless georgia has that one game they like to really screw up every year.
maybe they'll honor us instead of giving it to UFl or Scar like they normally do.

This is the real message behind my "it ends in Athens" bravado. Our brain farts typically involve 2 teams....and you nailed them.

Pretty sure Missouri was the road team in the SEC Championship games the past two years.

K...
You won't have to "lay an egg" for us to beat you. I don't know where this notion comes from that UGA only beats itself.

Please read the thread so you understand the context of that statement. It was a mizzou fan that hoped we'd lay an egg using our shortcomings vs FU and SCU as an example. Was a compliment that I said we wouldn't lay an egg vs the defending SECE champ.
