I can agree with that, If I was from GA, FL, etc, there's no way I'd go to Mizzou s opposed to a traditional power in my own backyard.

Missouri has the selling power of "we are in the SEC" that I think will be able to get you the recruits in the Midwest that might go to the big 10 or big 12. I do agree with you that trying to get kids from the deeper southern states to go to a colder climate is going to be a hard damn sell.

I've lived all over this country myself. Some parts of MO are a shithole, some parts are very nice and have a lot going for them. State varies a lot by geography. I get pretty excited when I have the chance to go back.

We've had double digit wins five of the last eight seasons. Pinkel must be doing something right.

That's great but where is the hardware to show for it?

It's probably just as simple as when a recruit from Fla. or Ga. land in that shithole of Missouri......they can't wait to get back on the plane out of there. I'm not melting or trolling, I had the displeasure of living there. Honestly it's one of the worst places

Then you either haven't lived in very many places or your taste and judgment is fricked.

I lived in Florida for four years myself. Except for the months of January and February i would rather live in Missouri. The ocean is nice but we have better fresh water lakes and streams for floating. Florida is flat.

Have to hand it to Mizzou....they have some players who never got offered by any other SEC schools and then turn into monsters.

Goes to show that 5 stars don't mean they will end up playing like 5 stars....some are 5 star head cases and feel entitled.

Yup, agreed. I couldn't wait to move there and after living there for a year I couldn't wait to leave. Pay is crap, school system is horrible, and people are just downright rude.

When my wife and I were looking for places to live in Pittsburgh, PA an individual walking down the sidewalk said hi to us. She asked me how I knew him. I said I didn't, that most people were just polite. She lived in Florida her entire life until that point. She had never seen anyone great a stranger before.

which is why they should be doing whatever they can to raise their profile in STL, Illinois (esp Chicago), and perhaps the Memphis area. I understand them dipping into Georgia a little like they used to dip into Texas but it is hard to pull a lot of elite players out of the backyard of their major in conference rivals who have the advantage of geography and probably name recognition.

This is Alabama's new $9 million dollar weight room. My mother took the tour and said it was jaw dropping the resources these players have at their disposal.

I guess all those millions of people are confused then? They should be vacationing in Missouri instead of Florida?

They got lucky to get the SEC West bottom feeders on their schedule at the same time the SEC East was down.

Meh. Had we gotten Auburn instead of Arkansas and beaten Auburn and Ark beat whoever they get instead of Mizzou, then Auburn literally would have been a bottom feeder in the west, with the same record in SEC and overall.

It first has to start in state. The last 2 years have been pretty bad at keeping the best in state players at Mizzou. Elliott is tearing it up for tOSU. We had an OL that has started some games as a true freshman at FSU. OU's 2nd leading receiver. Hentges this year to Bama and Ofodile to Oregon. Gotta do better in state.

After that, Illinois should be a priority. Add to the Big 10, ND is a big taker from the Chicago area and elsewhere in the state. This year, though, we have a commitment from their #2 player in the state, are in a strong position for their #1 player and are in contention for another top 10 player in Illinois.

Supplement that with a handful of lesser recruited but talented players (Brown/Ross out of Georgia) from Georgia, Florida, Texas and the other southern states, and Mizzou has the potential to put together solid classes. Just have to capitalize on the winning and continue improving the facilities and atmosphere.
