In defense of MSU, scheduling Southern Miss back when they made the game was fairly gutsy. A few years ago the Golden Eagles were a legit non P5 threat to anyone and had been for a good long while. They just really tanked the last few years.

The SEC cleared ND, BYU and for some reason Army as good enough to count as a P5 team earlier today. I heard on another board that the BYU deal was in place and they were waiting for that announcement to make it official.

Army has been woeful for a good long time now sadly. Plus no SEC team in their right mind would ever play them.
You win you beat an Army team has been bad for a while, plus you probably have some nagging injuries from their blocking scheme. You lose.. well you lost to Army. If you are the AD and you made that game you might as well put a for sale sign on your front lawn.
