I noticed it around August. I normally use Campus drive so I do not pass Butler field regularly.

It being that nice is pretty new, probably this year (at least I noticed it for the first time this year).
It really does add a lot though, like I said, on game days lots of tailgaters and kids run around and play on it playing little mini football games.

You obviously can't tailgate ON the field, but you can tailgate in the parking lot next to it, but most of the good tailgating spots have to be reserved in advance for the season these days I believe.
