In the end, I think that Mississippi State trumped Ole Miss in their hire by coming up with the best coach of bunch.

Great Job State.... And Congrats on a great hire for your program.

Leach is a perfect fit for Mississippi. He'll be among like minded folks.

Looking at WashSt is the wrong direction. Look at Texas Tech results and consider he did it with third-tier athletes.

Is Leach really going to hire Morehead as the OC?

I can see Leach being successful in the long run. i think Kiffin has a more immediate impact at Ole Miss but Leach will have more success at State down the line.

This may be the first time that three SEC West teams hired new head coaches and are fairly happy with all three hires.

Look at that niceness and you get downvoted because folks want us to be mad.

Leach will make for entertaining football and great sound clips. They will win 6-8 games a year maybe a 9th if the stars align. Interesting hire, you pretty much know you won’t be great but you won’t be terrible either and it will be a fun brand of football to watch. Leach is kinda the ultimate low ceiling but high floor coach. They could have swung for the fences and hopefully got some great young Coach on the way up but this is definitely the safest pick. It kinda seems like the MSU administration publicly acknowledging their place as lower to middle tier at best in the SEC so they might as well make it a fun ride.

Understanding that he was 12-25 in first three years at Washington State and since then his record is 43-22.
Also had decent success at Texas Tech. The guy maybe quirky but he can coach.
18 years as a D1 HC has shown that.

Let’s get ready to “Rumble”!!!!!

I think MSU definitely got the safer coach but Kiffin seems to high a much higher ceiling but also a lower floor.

He's a guy who has proven to do more with less for many years due to his scheme and coaching ability. Let's be real. Miss State is never going to be able to out recruit Bama, LSU, Auburn, et. al. This is exactly the kinda guy they can be successful with. Not sure there was a better hire out there for Miss St.

Kudos to the AD for making it happen.

Yes, I do, but he went 6-7 in his 7th year... Hard to blame that on the previous regime.

Mullen went 6-7 at MSU in his 7th season
