if Meyer had his way he would not play anyone and continue to schedule like a pussy. probably even remove FSU from the schedule, even though they suck!

hmmm.... meyer has done quite well against all of our rivals

and i'm pretty sure foley makes the schedules several years in advance... nice try tho

I like LSU-UF every year b/c it usually features some of the best talent in the SEC and so many future NFL players. It's kind of like Tennessee-Florida during the Spurrier era. On the other hand i kind of miss playing Kentucky every year, that is a beautiful state.

as long as we win the SEC championships and National championships I could care less who we beat during the regular season.

Our wins against each other the past couple years have helped our case in getting to the National Championship. I dont mind it.

last yr - we were a 5 loss team. Not even in the Top 25. Beating us had zero effect on Fl playing in the BCS

07 - Fl was a 4 loss team (see above)

06 - Fl beat #10 LSU, but wasnt propelled into the #2 slot until they beat #8 Arky in the SECCG.

03 - unranked Fl actually beat us, and we still won the BCS

So I'm not sure how beating each other had any effect on the winning team making the BCS. In fact, us not playing each other tends to allow us a better opportunity to meet in the SECCG, which would then boost the winner into the BCS.

Well AU played UT and UF, GA, AL back, to back, to back forever and all through the 80's and didn't complain.

Like it or not, that game is the SEC. It is the two winningest programs alltime going head to head.

Florida was nothing special in the 1980s, Georgia was off and on, and Tennessee was either very average or very good in the 1980s.

You guys would freak out now if you had to play LSU, Florida, Tennesssee, Georgia, and Alabama EVERY year.

Just to add to a thread previously on here. Seems like LSU isn't the only one unhappy with the permanent opponent arrangements. The last 2 times this was voted on, it won 10-2. Guess who were the 2 that voted against it both times.

I happy with it if the winner of that game continues to win the BCS title....

When i lived in Tennessee (2002-04) most of the younger people cared much more about the UGA and UF games than Alabama.

The 3rd Sat. in Oct. used to be an amazing thing. Two of the most storied programs in college football. The fans respected each other. Hell, Coach Bryant said that "you don't know what kind of player he is until he plays Tennessee." The whole deal with Fulmer was such a bad deal, not just for the obvious. It poisoned a great rivalry.

Yeah, i remember when Tennessee and Peyton Manning buried Alabama in i think 1995 that was the first time they had beaten them in forever, all my UT friends went nuts. They haven't been good in the same year much since then and that's made it a less important game i guess.

With the run both LSU and UF has had this decade, they have never met in the SECCG.

This where I wonder if the matchup will hurt at some point. If they split the two games, do they knock each other out of the NCG? (i.e. if we beat UF at home, but lose on a neutral field, will the voters put UF back in the top 2?)

Am I the only one that took the comment as tongue and cheek rather than bitching?

FLA. should handle LSU with relative ease. The Conference needs FLA to win, because other than BAMA, they are the only team that can carry it on their back for a NC title this season.

Doesn't matter what they vote. The SEC will never break up UA/TN and AU/GA.

As well they shouldn't.

Then vote for realignment. Auburn and Alabama move to the East and Vanderbilt and Kentucky move to the West. Then Auburn would have all of their 'traditional' rivals.

Why should every other SEC team have to wag their tails for the Alabama teams?

Or just schedule them as OOC games.

Agreed. You only need to recall a couple of seasons ago when we beat Arkansas but they represented the SEC West.
