Check out Celtic crossing, young ave deli for food and drinks. Celtic is one of the best bars in town.

Went there last year for a gymnastics meet with my daughter. Beale is cool and all but it's mostly just a tourist trap. Although I did enjoy the food they had down there.
On that note, very good food to be had in Memphis. We just happened to run by Alcenia's near the convention center on 317 N Main St. Some of the best southern soul food I've ever had. Was featured on Diners, Drive-in and dives.
We grabbed some porkys bbq nachos which were freaking incredible. I know some people don't like Porkys but that was damn good too.
Other than that, stay away from the ghetto. When we went through the ghetto on our way back from Elvisville, one person travelling with me said it was worst than the Costa Rican ghetto's she went on a mission trip to last year. So apparently they're pretty bad.
Have fun! Eat good! Drink good!

Bosco's Squared in Midtown and Blue Fin off of Beale are solid for food, with the former having a solid beer selection, as well.

Go to Beale one of the nights you're here just because, but you also should hang out at the bars at Overton square in midtown one night. Way nicer, cleaner, and more desirable.
I love what they've done to that area.

So looking at Overton it seems like all the bars are on Madison and cooper, is that right?

That would actually be perfect.
Forreal tho you can walk to:
The deli
Next door
Celtic
Alchemy
Cafe ole
Dkdc
The beauty shop
From the stadium.
Next door is small, but it is my favorite place to get a drink in memphis.
Deli has lots of beers and is great if you want decent sandwiches that wouldn't seem like they take forever to cook, but somehow do.
Alchemy is cool for cocktails and trying to bang other dudes.
There's a new bus thing called the roo that takes people from cooper young to Overton square where there are more bars and restaurants.
Local will PROB be slammed

I also like Fino's in midtown, but it's a little further down.

Is Babalu's a branch off of the one that started in Jackson? If so definitely go there. They used Frontera's in Chicago to model off of (fun fact Frontera's Chef is know as one of the best authentic Mexican chef's in the State. He is Rick Bayless, the brother of ESPN's Skip Bayless).

Yes, it is a branch off the one in Jackson.

Beale is an absolute shite-hole. Loaded with people loitering and trying to "holla" (literally) at your girl or women folk. Try not to get mugged on the way to the car. Mid-town would be a much better choice, as you suggested.

If you are into music the Gibson Museum is awesome

Thanks, definitely were thinking about going to that.
So Overton bar area is better than Beale? All bars pretty much the same in both areas? I've got about 20 places bookmarked for food so I guess I'm good there

I would suggest Overton square and cooper-young as well. Beale street is what it is. There's no place on Beale that I would say is "not to miss" but the street as a whole is cool. Where are you staying if you don't mind me ask?

LBOE is the best burger I've personally ever had. Fitting for its name.
