McElwain was a good coach in a bad situation. Hope he comes to Mizzou

McElwain was handcuffed at Florida. Ever since Tebow left they've had horrible quarterbacks. Kansas has more quarterback stability than UF since 2010. It's been nearly a decade since Floridas offense has been top 30.

McElwain was winning at CSU, and took the Gators to Atlanta twice. He's solid.

Florida is a terrible job these days, unless your a defensive coordinator.

McElwain is a huge upgrade over Odom. Not only will Mizzou win this Saturday, we'll also win the coaching search sweepstakes

Odom sucks, McElwain might do alright at a program with less pressure, but I think the SEC is just too much for him.

His job was to recruit good quarterbacks and improve the offense. He didn't do that.

You can have him, I'm holding out (and hopefully my ad is too) for someone who's not sec recycled.

He couldn't recruit at an elite level or win anything of note at Florida but you think he could at Mizzou?

Logical.

I'm not sure he's ready for Missouri.

PF had a UF beat writer on that said Mac basically had no interest being there. I could see him back at CSU in a few years.

Felipe has plenty of talent. They have to be coached up. If Mac is a good coach, qb can't be the problem. There's been too much volatility and probably most of it isn't his fault.

I wonder if any UF (or Bama, for that matter) fan has done a substantive analysis of McElwain's situation and decisions at CSU as compared/contrasted with his time at UF. Did he thrive in coaching up a lower-tier team lower-tier talent against mostly lower-tier opponents/talent? Did he just make some terrible staffing choices at UF? Was he more lucky than capable at CSU, given such a small time frame and would have likely declined over a longer period? Did he suck at evaluating SEC-level talent? There are enough questions to make such an analysis potentially interesting.

I would rather the Beavs keep Cory Hall than hire McElwain.

I know he did well at Colorado State but the Pac 12 is not the Mountain West. The Beavers need all the offense they can get to keep up with Oregon, Wazzu and U-Dub let alone the rest of the Pac 12.

Surely there is some other up and comer the Beavers could hire. Iowa State hit a home run. It could happen (but probably won't).

I will give you credit for wanting him to coach your team. A lot of people on here stick up for him but they would be pissed he was actually their coach.

With CSU. Lost 31-6 to Bama
With Florida. Lost 54-16 to Bama

Florida is simply a subpar program. He can win anywhere but Florida. As poor as UF has been, McElwain still got them to Atlanta

It seems any West coast coach coming to the south has problems recruiting. So much competition. Only Urban Meyer has made it
