Honestly, I hope he's a uniter and at least a half-way decent coach, and I think he will be. Best of luck to him under some ridiculously difficult circumstances.

I hope he is given a chance to succeed. However, he may go the way of Mike Shula who did a great job at Bama under difficult circumstances (Major NCAA Probation) and is now hated by many Bama fans.

Thrilled is probably not the best choice of words given what happened but I understand where he's coming from. That said, had Jones said the exact same thing under those circumstances the press would've had a field day.
