He does sound a little scared. Very out-of-character.

Exactly. You only got one game last year in which to actually enjoy watching your team play, that shitty bowl performance. And that had to suck, honestly. But if you get that pesky life or death struggle in every possession out of the way earlier, you can enjoy watching football more. You can see it for what it is... a game.

There won't be any overreaction if Ole Miss loses, unless it's a blowout. We're supposed to lose. Finebaum said so.

MSU game chalked up as if Harris had come in earlier, LSU would be undefeated

Well, this is true regardless.

God it must be depressing as hell to be a USCe fan.

But being a Bama fan you'll probably just write the loss off as a fluke and keep feeding your delusions.

Worked pretty well for us in 2011 and 2012. If you're only gonna lose one game, this is the weekend to do it.

Loathor, your posts are depressing. It's better to lose earlier? Games are more enjoyable when there is nothing of note to play for?

Like it, no. But it does take some of the pressure off. A perfect season would be amazing, especially for a program like ours that has been historically shitty. But I would imagine it's also rather nerve racking to experience. Does the joy after it's over take away from the tension of six months of nerves?

I imagine it something like being witness to a perfect game in baseball. Every pitch after a certain point becomes more and more fraught with the possibilities of imminent collapse. If your a fielder then every ball in your direction is your chance to ruin this moment of awesomeness. If your a fan in the stands then you have to sit in your seat the exact same way on every pitch just so you don't jinx your chance to see history.

But... I'll start next year on the edge of my seat in the hope that it will be our year. Same as the last twenty or so seasons.

Yeah, it was just a game for us during the Shula/Dubose years.
