Mark Richt was 10-5 vs AU in his 15 years at UGa.

That run included 2 SEC Championships, 2 wins in 3 major bowl appearances, 7 top 10 finishes and won 74% of his games. He never won a national title.

By way of comparison, in his final 15 seasons at Alabama, Paul W. Bryant won 9 SEC Championships, won 5 of 10 major bowl appearances, had 11 top 10 finishes including 3 national titles (2 split, 1 consensus) and won 81.4% of his games.

His record against AU over those 15 seasons was 11-4.

So long Saint Mark. You will not be missed on the Plains.

So what I'm learning here is that the Bear was a better coach than Richt. Interesting.

2007 really messed him up. It's amazing how that South Carolina game still haunts him so many years later.

Just to keep in mind:
Joe Paterno- 17 years to win NC at Penn State
Bobby Bowden- 18 years to win NC at Florida State
Tom Osborne- 22 years to win NC at Nebraska

Before their NC, their records looked incredibly similar to Richt's. Eventually he would've pulled it together. Never should've been fired

I don't think so. The east has been there for the taking for the last three years and UGA screwed the pooch every time.

Now Butch has Tennessee playing decently again and McElwain seems to have righted the shait show at UF. It is only going to get harder from here.

If he could not even win the east at its lowest point since the SEC went to divisions, there is no reason to think he could do it against stronger competition.

The east has been fricking gift wrapped since Meyer left and the best he could do was two appearances. He should have had at least five in that time.

The next UGA coach may not kick players off the team like Richt did, cutting off aubie's pipeline.

Neat now compare to Tuberville at Auburn.

Agreed, although I would almost excuse 2013 because of all the devastating injuries on that team, and that hail mary.

No excuse for not winning the East the last two years though.

I'm ready for an Urban uptempo run and spread offense that gets the job done... Tom Herman please!
