Looks like it’s the big three (Arky, Oregon State, Clemson), and then everybody else.

Tennessee jumps Florida by beating unranked Ole Miss and loses to Bama but Florida beats two top 10 teams and remains the same?

Baseball rankings are mostly about where you start..
it takes a lot going wrong to fall out..
it takes a lot going right to move up..

In other news.. the big 12 is looking stout so far..

23 Kansas State
25 Oklahoma

unfortunately, that means Pierce may do just enough to keep his job, but next year is going to be super ugly if he is still the coach..

I think an accumulation of losses midweek and lack of series sweeps limits UF's ranking ceiling.

Good for Florida for finally doing something this season, but they also didnt get penalized for a pretty rough start to the season.

SC loses a series to Clemson, and then Ole miss and drops completely out. UF has several bad losses to start the season and sticks inside the top 10. If any team isnt getting slighted after a big series win, its UF.

It does, but it is hard to move us down when we haven't lost a weekend series.

I guess beating A&M last weekend was nothing?

This is 100% correct, and I’m not even talking about UGA in this case. Getting swept handily by Kentucky is a definite red flag at this point.

D1 comes up with preseason rankings, and that ranking kind of serves like the baseline for teams for the first half of the season.

For example, Wake Forest. They were preseason #1, and have had an unimpressive year to say the least at 16-9

They were ranked #16 going into this week, with a 2-5 record vs Top 25 and 0-2 in ACC series.

They go on to win 2 of 3 this weekend against a Louisville team that is mediocre at best (#68 ELO), and they move up 4 spots in the rankings.

Like I said, each team has a baseline, and it does seem like D1 tries to keep teams as close to their preseason rank as possible.

We all know that if a team who was unranked in the preseason had Wake Forest’s résumé, they would not even be in the conversation today.

Agree. Maybe more of a course correction from over ranking before? Who knows. There no exact science to all this. UF is good. They keep winning SEC series nothing else will matter.

Think of it like this. Is UGA was preseason #1 but started the year 4-2 with losses to Bama & Lsu. Where would they be ranked?

If the #1 preseason team wins two ranked series to open the year, they should definitely still be somewhere in the 1-3 range depending on how others do.

But I fail to see how your hypothetical applies to my point with Wake Forest
