Nope. Dude sacked up and went to his hometown school. I love it and wish him nothing but the best. That is one reason why college basketball sucks so much now, it is a mercenary sport with no heart. UK, Duke, Kansas etc win with one year players from Chicago, New York, etc etc. No hometown heros at all

Going into it he knew that he didn't have the supporting cast around him. He wanted to take the team on his shoulders and now he's finding out how heavy those stones can be. Give him time but as my dad said growing up, you made your bed, now you've got to lay in it.

His hometown school would have been Jackson State, Milsaps College or Belhaven College.

I won't fault the kid for wanting to stay home and try to bring State back to a respectable standard. I'm sure PT played into it too. Unfortunately he's trying to get healthy while also trying to carry the team.

Would've loved to have had him at UK, struggles right now or not.

People have been leaving their state to play for top notch teams since the beginning. I guess you could make a rule where you can only attend a school based on the state you were born in? How do you think that would turn out?

Yeah that statement is silly. The last time UK had a lot of Kentucky kids on the roster with significant PT was in 1992 when they lost to Duke and Laettner. And Derek Willis will see significant playing time this season.

Germantown. Why are you posing this question? Did you think he was heading to LSU? It was between State and UK.

Jesus tap dancing Christ I dont want to make a rule against it, and I dont blame UK and others for recruiting the way they do. But as a fan of college sports and the pageantry of it, I have a hard time watching the dominant teams consist of 1 year players that are shipped in from across the country. What is the point? The way it is now it isnt "college" sports at all. And once again, I dont blame Cal one bit

Why? He's been hurt and finally got meaningful minutes last night when he scored 15 points and shot 4-8 from 3. The season is very early and very long. I think he'll be ok.

Players have been "shipped across the country" for most of my lifetime, so it's a really silly argument. Part of Rupp's Runts weren't from Kentucky either (ever heard of Pat Riley?) and that was the 50s.

Well lets look at the numbers.

A college basketball team has a 13 scholarship limit. If you have, say, 4 D1 schools in state that's a whopping 52 scholarships (and that's generous). So we'll say for the sake of the state of Kentucky you have UK, UofL, Western Kentucky, Murray State, and Eastern Kentucky as your primary instate basketball recruiters with 65 scholarships. The city of Louisville alone has roughly 35 high school teams and say you have 2-3 kids who will play on one of those teams from each team. That's 105 kids for 65 scholarships.

So where are they supposed to go? It's been like this forever. Especially in some states that don't necessarily produce consistent D1 talent but they want to improve their teams.

I understand. But it still wont change my opinion that it makes the product not nearly as fun to watch. When LSU made their final 4 run all 5 starters were from the Baton Rouge area. It was awesome. I love Ben Simmons, and will enjoy watching him, but it doesnt feel the same knowing he is gone in 4 months. He literally doesnt even have to step foot in a classroom

And how often does that happen? It's rare and been rare for quite sometime. You're acting like this has suddenly happened in the last 5-6 years and is exclusive to one and done culture.

Pitino's '96 team had guys from Florida, Massachusetts, Illinois, Georgia, Tennessee, and etc that all got significant PT. I think the only Kentucky guys on that squad with decent PT were Derek Anderson (who transferred in from Ohio State), Cameron Mills, and Anthony Epps.
