Kiper - “Carolina and Matt Rhule are seeing him every step of the way (at the Senior Bowl), and they’re picking at eight. I have him going 15, and I’m not sure he gets to 15 now.”

McShay - “I don’t disagree" “I talked to Matt Rhule for about 15 minutes before practice yesterday. It’s very clear that they want a quarterback. And maybe it will be Mac Jones. It's so clear from these six really good quarterbacks (at the Senior Bowl), that Mac Jones is head and shoulders above the rest."

It's really an awesome story. Mac Jones was an afterthought with every fan out there. It was a foregone conclusion the Tua era would transition directly to Bryce Young. Mac was never thought of as a legitimate starting QB... until he was. He played really well when taking over in 2019, but the two unfortunate pick sixes in the Iron Bowl overshadowed that fact with most people. Then there's no spring practice...and people are saying he'll start the season, but be replaced by BY 3-4 games in. How wrong everyone was. In this day and age of QB recruits wanting to transfer if they aren't starting by year 2, Jones is a testament to sticking with it and just improving. He could have transferred to Colorado St or something and never heard from again. Now he's a likely first round NFL draft pick.

Not gonna lie, I was one of the biggest Mac apologists on this board after the Iron Bowl and in the offseason. I feel vindicated.

He’ll be an awesome NFL QB just like all those other Alabama QBs.

At least you don't have to question his fortitude, he'll be sure to fall on fumbles and can be counted to not embarrass the team wearing women's clothing at press conferences. Other than that, yeah he can't make the throws.

He will be drafted in either the first or second round.

And that GM will be fired in 3 years.

Bo Nix will never be able to Hold the clipboard for Mac Jones. Let’s compare signing bonuses when Nix comes out. Will Auburn have any 7th round picks this year.

Jones would do well in a system like the saints or the packers. Needs to stay away from a bad team though .

Call me what you want, but the blatant homerism coming from the Gump fans on here is a sight to behold.

I was too. I wish I could find the post where idiots were arguing with me when I said he’d be very good. They said he’d suck without Jeudy and Ruggs. I predicted he’d have 3500 yards and 30 touchdowns. I was short by 1000 yards and 11 TDs.

What’s funny is if you go to Wiki for Auburn’s QB history post-Cam, you’ll see exactly that.
