He was talking about his cliche thing. Explained that all football programs use them, and that it's "overblown in Tennessee for some odd reason." Haha. I mean it wasn't overt lashing out, but I certainly detected a hint of disdain in his words. He really doesn't like the fact that people make fun of him.

What was that mural y'all had with Dooley one year, it said something like "Winning is impossible" or "There is no hope." Something crazy like that. God it's killing me that I can't find the pic.

I hate UT has allowed nike to put themselves as equals in marketing. As if without them UT wouldn't be UT.

The reason UT stuck with Adidas for so long was due to this - Adidas gave us a metric ton of money and control. Hart thought Nike was important enough to get behind and Nike gave us a surprisingly great deal. BUT UT right now wants to advertise Nike, there was rumor that it mattered for some recruits in both Football and Shooty Hoops. With the sweetened deal we probably negotiated Nike to have a bigger space in adverts like this but I wouldn't put it past the marketing dept. at UT to be doing this of their own free will (we negotiated for more merch so it's in our interest to help sell that merch).

I miss the stripes on the pants and I think Nike would've added them had we not been switching from Adidas. BUT I always loved the width of the strips on Adidas more.
That said, I like the jerseys on Nike better. What annoys the frick out of me with Nike is they have to place their swoosh so effing conspicuously on everything (Adidas was much better at making their logo look right on the uni whereas Nike has to put it everywhere and make sure you see it - not just on the shoes). Adidas shoes looked better though some don't like wearing them as much.
My only complaint about Adidas beyond the jerseys not looking as good (hate the tire tread look they have now but they were great before) was that there was never enough of it. Not enough variety and not as available. But you and I are def. in the minority among fans.
That said, if 'croots want Nike I'm cool with it.

The only thing I dislike about Nike is the checkerboards on the helmet and some of their fan gear is garbage. It's still a huge upgrade over adidas and their second tier trash imo

I HATED the checker boards on the helmet at first but since it's only a slight bit on the back it grew on me. I still think Nike wayyyy overuses the checker boards. I mean have you see the latest cleats? We won't see the bottoms when they are worn but still.
That said, UT could put it's foot down on it. Also, one MAJOR issue is the disrespect of the Lady Vols. Hart and company bought the one brand thing hook, line and sinker and while it's true that LV merch sells less there is a vibrant demand for it and it costs Nike zero to produce it.
If nothing else the PR from it all within the fanbase isn't worth it. I know other women's teams have dropped Lady and that we DID keep it for women's roundball but the Lady Vol brand was strong enough to where it not only sold merch but that it was never representative of anything but respect and it was important to many of our teams and our fanbase.
Hart (again) but Currie needs to tell Nike 'look, bring back the LVs for all sports.' Male fans don't care and it would only buy him good will as an AD. Nike would also concede the point - they didn't understand the proposal and they could make a big deal of it with a return.
