headed to the track meet this afternoon what's a good place near campus to eat. Looking for something local that is part of the UF experience.

Unfortunately, everything that was there when I was there about a decade ago has been torn down to make way for luxury student housing. They redid The Swamp restaurant at a new location, and that was always popular, but I haven't been to the new one yet. Burrito Bros is gone, but there is La Tienda which had good Mexican when I was there. Mi Apa is a chain that isn't to far from campus with decent Cuban food (although nothing phenomenal). In downtown, you can do Flaco's which has good cubans.

Just head north of the track stadium to University Ave and go East and you will find something if you want to table service. If you want something quick go west to 34th St and get a sub from Publix.
They may have food trucks next to Pressley stadium. It's a pretty big weekend with the O&B game last night and Georgia is coming to town today for both baseball and softball.

Little bit of a drive but Satchels Pizza is good with a quirky vibe to it.

That was the best in town 20 years ago. I stopped there out of nostalgia in a road trip a couple years back, and it's still damn good.
And isn't Mi Apa over near where there used to be a Whataburger? Because that place was solid as hell. But again, it's been many years since I've been there.

Are you the kinda guy that think mayo is spicy? Go down to Applebee's when you're craving a good steak?

quote:I eat things plenty spicy just don't like the Cuban "flavor". It's a lot like Honduran food. Too many mission trips to Honduras ruined me on black beans and plantains. Love Mexican. Just don't like Cuban.
