TBH - I think LSU and Ole MIss classic uniforms are best looking in SEC if not country....

Going back to helmets with numbers.
Is Bama the only power 5 team to have kept the classic look of the helmet with the numbers?

I think they look awesome, but as a Bama fan I really like the number on the helmet idea, It's pretty original.

Dumb question, but was Alabama the first to put #s on the helmet?

I really doubt it, but it's a bit of tradition I am fond of. I was sincere in my opinion that it looks badass on L5U's helmets though. LSU, I think, can and should go retro. It will look good on the field and reinforce tradition and spirit.
Edit: Wow there are some sarcasm impaired downvoters in this thread.

Wish LSU had never gone away from the gold. I personally think changing everything yellow on the current jersey to this shade of gold would look great. They should also go back to the more traditional font for the numbers and shorten the shoulder stripes back to where they used to be.

Bama was not first, but I'm not sure who was. Bama first put their helmet numbers on in 1958, the year Bryant arrived.
This picture is from 1957, and both Texas A&M and Rice already have the helmet numbers.
Just like Tennessee's checkerboard endzone, Alabama's helmet numbers were not original, nor were they unusual at the time of their inception. It's the sticking with it that has made both of these things into cool and unique traditions.

How anybody can like that gold is beyond me.

LSU had numbers on their helmets a long time ago.....probably when everyone did and it wasn't original at all.
LSU started wearing numbers on their helmets in 1957

I can certainly understand their adding an "L" to the uniform.
Makes way more sense than adding a "W".
