I'll get it back...

So those of you that attended in person...what is your opinion of the QB battle between Harris & Jennings? Who do you guys think will be the starter? Do you guys seeing even with Cam Cameron as OC the running game will be more prominent? I know LSU should or will have an excellent OL correct?

I feel that Alabama started the season better than Auburn, but after Auburn got going, then won the Iron Bowl, they were undoubtably the better team. I also feel that Oklahoma was inferior to Alabama the majority of the season, and simply found a way to beat them after watching Auburn's method to madness.

In short, Auburn was better than Alabama, but Alabama was better than Oklahoma.

Upvoted for truth. Now tell me, did you consider Alabama to be a a pretty good team coming into the Iron Bowl? Some people boast Alabama's 11-0 record as evidence that they were good. IMO, that's not a convincing argument.

Alabama peaked in the second half of the Saban Bowl. Defeating LSU 38-17 was the highlight of their season. When you consider that neither team was up to standard, the picture becomes much clearer.

Isn't it amazing how Alabama and Auburn fans turn any thread into a back and forth between them?

I originally tried to help keep your thread on track, but I wasn't strong enough to resist some of the posts here. I apologize for running a separate conversation. If this site had a PM system or profile system, then I'd have taken this conversation to TTsTowel's profile or inbox.

@Dixie Normus: Well, one more season to go.
Maybe you'll get treated to a 2011 Capital One Bowl performance, which would make the next offseason so much more exciting.

Kwon will probably measure 5'11 200lbs at the combine, I would think he is smart enough not to leave early.

That's how I feel as well but our guys leave early even if they're 5th rounders most of the time

Should be an outstanding unit this year, yes.

That's a pretty heated debated on TD. My opinion (out of the thousands so fwiw) is that Harris has the better arm and a little more talent. Jennings has the edge with simply being there longer. Who'll have the starting job by the Wisconsin game....I honestly don't know. If I had to guess Jennings gets the nod but if he doesn't perform Harris will get a shot very quickly.

I think a lot of running starting out, but progressing to the AU game, hopefully a very balanced attack. I think we will need it if we are to have a realistic chance at ATL and the CFP.

You'll have to take that title from Florida, and I won't believe it until I see it on the field and in the stats.

You can bookmark it right now. LSU will have the best secondary in 2014 and 2015. Robinson and White on the outside with Paris as Nickel back. Mills at FS with Jefferson at SS and Jamal Adams rotating in. It's going to be a fun couple of years watching these guys.

From what you saw, could you truly imagine the 2015 defense being close to the 2011 defense's level?

The defense looked great Saturday. We didn't have a RB carry longer than 10 yards, some of it could be contributed to what we had to work with at that position. We didn't have a wide open pass play (meaning no glaring breakdowns in coverage). Of course you have to take it with a little grain of salt considering we were pretty vanilla on both sides, but I like what I saw way more than last year.

On the line -
1. Hunter lived in the backfield (4 sacks) and Bower was dominant himself.
2. Both lines did good against the run (although we had a guy nursing an ankle and what amounted to basically 3 FBs running the ball).
3. Jury's still out on run the DLs run defense til we get Fournette and Williams here.

In the middle -
3. The LBs were great. The line held up to allow them to mash the RBs for little to no gain most of the time. This is what we lacked even against teams like UAB and Towson last year.
2. Guys like Feist (14 tackles in first half alone playing against #1 offense), Debo (pic 6), and Kwon (pic 6), made some really great plays.
3. I feel like with depth behind Welter (Beckwith, thumper Garrett when he gets here), and Feist and Debo showing up behind Kwon and Lewis, we'll be way better in run defense as a front seven. We are going to need it very early and often too.

Over the top -
1. Man where do I begin? While they didn't have any ints like in the previous scrimmages, they blanketed every single WR out there. If you had any luck catching the ball, congratulations.
2. The guys who did catch the balls (when they weren't dropping perfectly placed balls, ugh) caught them with a DB in their hip pocket.
3. Both 1st and 2nd string DBs looked good and I mean guys like Paris who just got here. If we aren't top 3 in pass defense in the SEC, then I don't know what happened between now and the season.
4. Watching one WR catch a lot of passes in high traffic (spectacular grabs), tells me that we have at least one very dangerous receiving threat.

Aren't spring games scripted?

We had to move down the field a lot. The only short drive for a TD was when Paris muffed the punt. In previous years, they'd do some red zone, but I didn't see that. We didn't kick a field goal either. It was either 5-7 play strike drives for TDs, or 3 and outs.

LSU fans can act like we won't have a pass game, but I see some real good things from our QBs if they can put it together. With Cam's downfield passing offense, we will definitely put up yards in bunches.

about a game that's 7 months away. Last year's results don't necessarily have a huge influence on this year's. Following your reasoning though, I can see cause for concern. 2013 Alabama defeated a more veteran, explosive offense to the tune of 38-17.

You forget that we basically fricked ourselves early in that game. We were going to be 7-0, then Copeland fumbled at the one yard line. We stopped you, got the ball back, then fumbled the snap. you got the ball and couldn't really move and just kicked the FG. We got the ball back and then finally scored. It should have been 14-0 before you even did anything. We couldn't run at all and then the OL just gave up the last 2 drives.

I want to win that game and the Ole Miss game more than any other games on the schedule.

Keep on dreaming Faggie, look for your fourth beat down in a row from the Tigers. Manziel lost to two LSU defenses that won't even be as good as this years D...yall fricked

No one will know how good this 2014 team will be until the studs on O get on campus. The D could easily be back to 2011 form...lets just see how the O can hold up. If these true freshman can make an impact like I think they are capable of, could be an exciting year for the Tigers

The QB position will once again hold LSU back. Shocking.

good stuff

I'm pretty damn worried about the qb situation

BUT, I trust Cam Cameron 100% and there is still a lot of time for progress.

Actually, last year we still rushed way more than we threw. I'd expect the passing attack will look totally different this year. If we can have an effective short passing game, we can still have a very decent offense.

Pump the brakes. I have pretty high expectations for the 2014 D as well, but saying they could EASILY be anywhere near 2011 is a bit ridiculous. 2015 is a different story, though.

I think he was talking about 2015, especially with KT coming in.

I start drooling when I think of White, Robinson, Paris, Toliver, Mills, Jefferson, and Adams in the same secondary. Feels a whole lot like 2010-2011.

Jennings probably starts, and if he can't hack it, then Harris will come in. I think QB play costs us a game or two next year but I also think that Auburn and Bama are the only two teams that have the same talent. I trust Cam to put the best guy out there and give him every chance to succeed.

Lack of depth was pretty apparent here because we only have 2 scholarship guys on roster right now. Hilliard looks improved and Magee looks about like he did last year. Hilliard had the better game of the 2 but we really don't know what this will look like until Fournette gets here

If Fournette keeps his head on straight, he will make all your RBs better.
