Miles is making a push for "most underwhelming hires in one offseason" of the last 5 years. I really hope this isn't legit.

No it isn't. He was the DC at K State and DC at Wisconsin.

It might be old news but his relation to Malachi was something I didn't know and I found that interesting

Yeah, Les is making some bad decisions lately. I have started to think there is something amiss in the LSU AD

Right, but I thought he was known more for his ground running game and OL than his defense. I never paid any attention to his defense when he was at Wisconsin. When he was hired, that's all anyone talked about.

Good question. We all know that coaching has nothing to do with performance.

2B's expertise is on offense. Why is he having a tough time getting the right offensive coaches on his staff? I mean, it seems weird that he would want his WR coach, RB coach, and offensive coordinator all gone after his second season.

Bert brought in assistants when he first came to Arkansas that probably would of done well in the B1G. After going through his first season in the SEC, he realized some weren't gonna cut it in this league so he changed the defensive coaches last offseason. Now he's doing the same thing this offseason to the offensive coaches.

Fwiw saban did the same thing when he left Michigan state for lsu.

Technically, Smith wasn't his original target as our WR coach. He originally hired George McDonald away from Miami which looked like quite the steal at the time. However a month in to the job, McDonald was hired away by Syracuse to be their OC. Smith was the backup hire so it's not odd to see that it might not be working out since he was a rushed hire.

What Smith brings to us is an ability to open recruits doors in Louisiana since he is a New Orleans native. LSU obviously doesn't need that boost. When it comes to his actual coaching ability, he has left a lot to be desired. Our wide receivers were the worst position group on our team last year. Sloppy routes and dropped passes have been the norm. I had a thread in our board last year tracking the drops of each game of catchable balls and the final tally was absurdly high. It would have brought Allen's completion % up over 10%.

I would miss him for his recruiting ties but not for his coaching ability.

I was thinking the exact same thing. What do Cameron/Miles see in the Arky guy?

Yeah, probably has something to do with them not being very talented.

Yea, I wasn't expecting Arky fans to talk up their WR coach to LSU fans.

That could be part of the problem. But it looked like poor route running, and bad body/hand placement at times too. They could use better coaching.

I don't think you really want to go there.

Arkansas has virtually zero talent at wide receiver. Auburn has 4* and 5* littered on the defense.
