According to my channel guide, the SEC Network will be replaying the LSU-McNeese State game in its entirety beginning next hour. Should be gripping TV.

You ladies have fun. But remember this is coming to a stadium near you in the near future. An America that makes 10,000 new rules each year is going to be boring as hell. Bureaucrats and lawyers. Rules and Nannies. For as far as the eye can see. Get your jokes in now, enjoy it yourself next week.

The pussification of this country will be it's downfall

Do you really think it would have been safe to play that football game in front of 100K people in the middle of that storm? It was a pretty bad storm. It was knocking down trees on Highland. Our power was out most of the night, etc.

Yes I do. How many of those who stayed in the stadium were struck by lightning? I wasn't. I was just sitting there watching the big screen talking to people. I didn't even see lightning until the team had been off the field for a half hour. How many of the 100,000 people who had mile plus walks back to their cars were struck by lightning? Was it safe for the University to allow them to disperse into open parking fields and tents under Oak trees?

Lsupimp quit being a hardass. There was lightning all over the area starting as soon as the players went into the locker room and didn't stop until about 11.

And what other option was there?? Lock 100K people inside Tiger Stadium and tell them they CANT leave?

They used to like stiff dew.
This is not the LSU of old.

Pretty sure the call to cancel the game came from Birmingham.

I'm not being a "hardass". I just hate bureaucracy and safety nannies. When an "official protocol" overwhelms common sense America suffers.
I think the INITIAL game delay was an absolute travesty. Nobody heard a thing. Nobody saw a thing. We sat there for over 30 minutes before we hear thunder or saw a flash.
The first round of rain and lightning came through around just before 8 pm. It should have been halftime. and then we could have played the second half around 10:30/11:00 after the serious stuff came through.
That's how it was done for 100 years. You play THROUGH the lightning strikes in the distance and you shut down temporarily as the cell passes. You assume some reasonable risk. Like it has always been.
