one ignorant quote from a football player and the dude is acting like he found deep throat. i guess it's something good to put on his resume but it's not like tdr did some world class reporting on this.

Blue needs to stop giving Bama bulletin board material.

Not really. I just don't have to accept this as normal just as I don't accept child molesters, Islamic terrorists and murderers as being normal parts of society that I have to accept.

So to be clear: you lump two adults having consensual gay sex in the privacy of their own home in the same category as Osama Bin Laden?

I like how he equated a consensual activity between adults with murder and sexual abuse

Here's the full exchange on Twitter between The Reveille's Chandler Rome, LSU Associate SID Bill Martin, Cody Worsham from Tiger Rag magazine and Ben Love from LSU's Scout site.

quote:

Chandler Rome ?@Rome_TDR 1h
Alfred Blue's comments today were disgusting. That's the beginning & end of my opinion. Bravo to my TDR colleagues on stellar reporting #LSU

Ben Love ?@BenLoveTSD 1h
@Rome_TDR Man, the amount of chest-puffing by Reveille last night and today is puzzling. What exactly did you accomplish? Where's the story?

Cody Worsham ?@CodyWorsham 1h
@BenLoveTSD @Rome_TDR Well, they opened up an important dialogue, for one. Something everyone can learn from.

Ben Love ?@BenLoveTSD 1h
@CodyWorsham @rome_tdr By finding one well-intentioned but green kid to say one quasi-insensitive thing on campus? ...

Bill Martin ?@LSUBillMartin 59m
@BenLoveTSD @codyworsham @rome_tdr any off field type interviews the Advcate/picayune give us a heads up. TDR never. That's their intention.

Another Twitter conversation between the same parties:

quote:

Chandler Rome ?@Rome_TDR 1h
@BenLoveTSD also, can you recall a college athlete ever speaking out about such a sensitive issue so brazenly? Needed to be reported, IMO

Ben Love ?@BenLoveTSD 1h
@Rome_TDR No, because other SIDs were probably vetted. Blue didn't speak out voluntarily.

Ben Love ?@BenLoveTSD 1h
@rome_tdr He didn't speak out against gays or use slur. All today did was show different socioeconomic background from him & other athletes.

Bill Martin ?@LSUBillMartin 1h
@BenLoveTSD @rome_tdr in addition players were answering football related quest at post practice when this quest was asked out of the blue

Lastly:
quote:

Chandler Rome ?@Rome_TDR 1h
@BenLoveTSD, it's an extremely relevant topic in sports & I think the goal was to localize it. Blue's comments, however, opened a canofworms

Bill Martin ?@LSUBillMartin 1h
@Rome_TDR @benlovetsd it might also be added that in true Reveille form they did not request any players that day while rest of media did

My opinions on all 4 of those people remain the same. Ben Love is good at his job and takes pride in doing it right. Bill Martin is top notch, and rightfully pissed off the Reveille. Cody Worsham is kind of a douche and thinks he's more important than he really is. And the Reveille kid is a huge turd.

USA Today has picked up the story now.

They compare Blue to the 49ers Chris Culliver (as the orginial article from the Reveille does).

quote:

Blue's statement echoes one made by San Francisco 49ers safety Chris Culliver, who said at this season's Super Bowl Media Day that he doesn't "do the gay guys, man. I don't do that."

They go on to say:
quote:

By and large, however, LSU players quoted in The Daily Reveille, as well as LSU coach Les Miles, seemed willing to leave their personal beliefs outside the locker room and accept a gay teammate. (The Daily Reveille does note that LSU's athletic department "would not allow players to be asked questions on the topic before they were properly prepped for the interview.")

I love how USA Today closes the article:
quote:

In a way, Turner makes the most accepting statement possible. "Being gay won't do nothing for you," Turner said.

"If I knew I was lining up in front of somebody that was gay, I'm going to pancake him and sit on him just like I would on anybody else."

That's bull shite. There is nothing wrong with being black but there is something very wrong with one dude wanting to suck another dudes dick. And I applaud Alfred Blue for telling the world that LSU ain't got time for no punk-arse bitches in Red Stick.

There may be, but I'm not one of 'em.

I love vagina. A lot. To the extent that is controls everything I do.

With that said, IDGAF what other people want to do behind closed doors....and I REALLY don't GAF if the guy on my favorite football team is a cocksucker. So long as he is a badass player, of course.
