A team that has improved during the season has a chance at the playoffs.

From an A&M fan... I feel like you're getting a little ahead of yourself. And I fully expect LSU to run the rest of their schedule minus Bama.

Idk man, I feel like I just watched LSU get blown out at home vs. Tennessee two weeks ago and fans were calling Kelly a Jimbo clone.

Going from terrible to slightly above average does not warrant a spot in the playoffs.

So you want to be given a spot that you couldn’t earn. And yes if the Vols don’t win the conference with at worst 1 loss they didn’t earn a playoff spot.

Lost to FSU (that alone knocks you out), killed by Tennessee and barely squeezed by an awful Auburn team. Nope, not happening.

Expanding to 12 teams will get teams in that have improved

I mean absolutely congrats on stringing together 2 great weeks

But we also aren’t that far removed from y’all losing by 30 at home and needing Auburn to completely shite the bed to win in Jordan Hare

And further reduce the importance of the regular season which is the main thing the sport has going for it compared to other sports.

NFL teams with the best record don’t always win the super bowl

If there was a 12 team playoff in 2019, LSU probably would not have won.

Y'all had a great second half against Lane's overrated paper Top 10 team. You got routed at home by the only tough team you've played in this same month.

You need to pump the breaks on thinking you've turned some corner.

Enjoy the win. You'll be competitive against Alabama because it will be at Night in Tiger Stadium, but I also won't be surprised if Arkansas and A&M give you a close game or you drop one.

More often than not, the right teams will get their shot.

I don't understand though how you can start a thread like this in October. LSU still has to win the West and the SEC for this discussion to really make sense.

Hypothetically though, I suspect the playoff committee will look past a close week 1 loss under a new regime.

Let’s see how LSU does against Alabama before we start pushing our chest out

1. It's October. Let's see if LSU can make it through the season with just 2 losses.

2. With every expansion of the playoffs you chip away more and more on what makes college football unique among almost all major sports in the world, which is that pretty much every regular season game feels like a do or die - from the opening game to the last. You might be able to lose one game and still make it if the chips fall for you later in the season. But lose two games and you are out (unless you are LSU which apparently is the only program that gets the favor of two "mulligans"). I'm not sure what the perfect balance is, but I'd caution against going too far into diluting the greatest regular season that we have in sports. I don't think we want 3 loss teams getting into the playoffs. That kills the excitement and mystique of the college football high stakes regular season.

Very far fetched. At this point we don't deserve a spot. Be patient.

Even though it benefits my team LSU is an example of why I’m against expanding the playoffs
