Yeah, it would have been nice, but we have a lot of experience on the line. It's still gonna be a rough offense to watch at times, but that line is a comfort. This will be the best line we've had since Miles got here.

Any of the top teams in the SEC wouldn't lose more than a game in the Big 10, ACC, and Big 12. Maybe 2 in the Pac 12.

How is LSU a national title contender? They are young and somewhat inexperienced on the DL, they have nothing but inexperience and uncertainty at QB, and they don't have any experience at WR.

The best thing they have going for them are a big tough OL and some great RB's, decent LBs, and a very strong secondary.

That doesn't scream championship contender to me.

So you agree that there are a number of question marks but that it's dumb to say so?

I'm not saying LSU will be bad but I don't see how the tigers would be named a title contender preseason. How's that dumb?

If things come together, sure LSU could contend. I don't think they are contenders right now, though.

Could A&M surprise everyone and push for the west, which means pushing for the SECCG and beyond? Perhaps. Same thing for LSU.

I agree for the most part, but it's a safe assumption that their D won't be very good.

LSU is not a national title contender.

I like the schedule, I think we could make a run at Atlanta, but I wouldn't bet on it.

To say LSU is NOT a contender at this point doesn't make any sense to me.

Do you not think LSU's roster has enough talent to be in the running for a championship? I think they absolutely do. Thus why they are being named as a possible contender.

At this point I would say it is dumb to say either way. Sure we don't have the experience but that doesn't mean we don't have the talent. A few early bloomers and we are good to go

I don't think people understand the concept of title contention... This early, many teams would be in contention (due to the fact that noone has any losses and the ?s to be answered). As teams lose or people realize the answers to the ?s weren't answered in a positive way, there would be less contenders.

You can't "not be a contender now" but could be later... That makes no sense. If you don't think it's possible to contend now, then there's no way to think they can contend at a later date.

I'm saying they aren't at this time. That doesn't mean they won't or can't become a top five team, just that they aren't yet. I'm not sure how that's a huge deal.

I know what you're saying, but you also know what we're saying. It's not expected that LSU will be contending for the title in Week 12. But it wouldn't be the biggest shock, either. So no, they're not a title contender. But could they gel during the year and work into contention? Sure, it's possible.

This is why they will have to expand the playoff selections, SEC will be stacked every season.

The spread in talent is so thin at the top of the conference that the team picked 5th in the preseason could easily be a couple of bounces or breaks away from finishing first. There isn't a clear dominant team this year so it's not that unreasonable to lump the top 5 in as NC contenders.

It was a good year for guards to come out. Probably would have went around the same in the 2015 draft, he and Hill both made the right choice.

Most did. To say who is and who isn't a contender in early August is just silly.
