That really sucks. Was he supposed to be a solid contributor this year? I saw his stats and he only had 15 total tackles last season.
2nd string F OLB behind Tashawn Bower, would play a lot of coverage situations, former safety and he's bulked up to 230 pounds now.
they are saying just 6-8 weeks recovery so looks like we'll have him back for the meat of our schedule.

freshman Sci Martin has been very impressive in camp so far and apparently has been picking up the playbook really well. he's gained 30lbs over the latter part of the spring and summer and has kept his speed. he will be a very important newcomer for us this year, especially now. with the talent at corner and with Aranda's philosophy I would expect to see our safeties coming into the box to help with coverage much more if we are having to play the younger guys at lb more.

Hopefully he recovers soon. The injury bug can sometimes descend on a team out of nowhere. The start of last year saw Arkansas losing people left and right. Fortunately LSU has first class sports medicine and while he will probably miss the season he should be back at full strength next year.

Yep, now Martin will backup Key and Divinity will backup Bower at the 2 OLB spots. 2 true freshman backups, not what we wanted but at least it's some really talented guys.

He was the signing I was most excited about too. His tape and numbers are ridiculous. I still don't know how he was only a 3-star.

It does appear to be a season ending injury. But definitely could see him missing half the season.

We are going to have to rely on some key positions that will have untested but supremely talented youngsters as depth. I guess this is why you recruit your arse off.

frick it. No more pads until the last 4 days of camp

Absolutely.
I've been in a cast with a broken fibula all summer (repaired with surgery/screws/plates).
Not an easy injury from which to rebound quickly; but I'm not a college football player in peak physical condition.
The following words from Romans 5:3-5 have been a comfort to me over the past few months; LSU fans, may they offer the same to you.
Not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not put us to shame, because God's love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.

I'd like to know if it all happen on the same turf. makes you wonder if maybe the inside turf needs to be replaced or if they put new natural turf outside.

This happens a bunch when you change defensive schemes. Players who were further down on the depth chart gain weight to play a different position and/or and they don't have the technique down to do what is being asked of them by the new staff.

Jesus.
That sucks. Hope he has a speedy recovery.

Lacouture moved my DT to DE and got hurt in a non-contact drill.
Washington moved from DE to OLB so i doubt he put on weight.
Thompson moved from S to OLB so he probably did put on weight.
I doubt it had anything to do with lsu moving to the 3-4. More likely it just happened because it's football and sometimes injuries happen, even in bunches.

Sucks for LSU.
Take my word, that's never good. Typically, those positions take a year or so for the player to grow and strengthen into that position.
