It was just funny seeing the comment about youth/inexperience, since AU fans said the same thing.

Was Auburn anywhere near as young and inexperienced last year as LSU was this year?

A DB starting at QB? I'd say so.

It is a mistake to compare LSU vs Auburn 2013 with this year that game is closer to LSU vs MSU 2014. LSU fans have made excuses about that game similar to the excuses Auburn made last year. Including one poster in this thread.

In a offense that was at their best running from the spread?

What other position were so young? Did yall replace 2 1,000 yd wrs and a 1,000 yd rb? A QB? Were yall playing 18 freshmen?

Quarterback play and terrible playcalling. Oh and inability to defend the read option and pressure the quarterback.

AU and MSU run the ball well, while being pretty good against the run. LSU has a pretty poor run defense, so just a bad match up for LSU. OM doesn't run the ball well and thus didn't present the match up problem for the LSU d.

State semmingly had great field position advantage
and caught LSU is some wrong defensive schemes.

They took advantage of our youth and over pursuit.

It was a credit to us that were were even in a postion to win after trailing 34-10. But we did come back and were within a Hail Mary of a probably non-deserved miracle win.

I think the Auburn game was just a case of them being higher for the game. They hadn't beaten us in 3 years and only once in the previous 5.
They got off to a fast start and didn't let off the throttle. When the game got away from us, we couldn't come back.
Hindsight would had had Les starting Jennings instead of Harris, but he didn't.
The game would have been closer in Tiger Stadium, but probably still a loss.

Defensively, State and Auburn are just hard to defend - period. They played really well against us too. I don't think we knew just how good State was so I think there was a shock to the system there. But now that Beckwith and Adams are starting and are getting comfortable at their positions, the D is completely different. Beckwith is playing like a monster in the middle of the field and Adams is all over the field making plays. They make LSU's D MUCH more aggressive. Last week was one of the best defensive performances I've ever seen from LSU considering we had 4 turnovers and we only gave up 7 points.

Offensively, we played super-conservative with a running game that wasn't there yet against State and Auburn. However, LSU's O-line seems to have learned this new zone blocking scheme and they are making a world of a difference. Magee has started trucking people at RB, Fournette is adding new moves each week that leaves the defense in his tracks and Hilliard just tossed a few dudes into the crowd it seemed against Ole Miss. Offensively, even though LSU ran most of the time against Ole Miss, it was the best called game. We saw different types of runs for LSU and we made the D guess a lot more (which is key when your passing offense is not great). We're also starting to throw to our RBs and they are really dangerous catching the ball.

Where does Auburn keep the runner up trophy from last year?
You won't be so lucky against Dawgs and Tide this year!

the auburn fans in this thread are typically annoying (I suppose like pretty much every group of message board fans). most lsu fans still feel like they lost to the significantly better team. even the fans saying things like everything went wrong aren't saying they were the better team. auburn was obviously better. even making it close late in the game against msu doesn't represent how much better msu was against lsu in that game or for the balance of the year

The OP asked for reasons why we lost to MSU and Auburn.
(Some) Auburn fans dismiss our explanations as excuses. WTF to you want us to say? Youth, inexperience, wrong defensive schemes, mismastches, etc. all played a part.

I think ya'll beat us also with emotion (Auburn had only beaten LSU once since 2006), the revenge factor, and being at home.

Yes you beat us handily, but we also nearly came back and beat the team that beat you, and DID beat the team you play Saturday. Let's see how you do against them.

The power run game with QBs has given us fits all season.

We also had no answer for MSU's Bear Wilson. Auburns offensive talent was too much at too many positions. Probably the most talented bunch in the SEC when you look at all the skill positions

Did you ever happen to pull up an AU related thread after LSU beats them? Annoying wouldn't describe it.

I know. I wish we'd throw it in the other posters' faces a little when we win, but LSU fans are just too complimentary and understanding...we're really a well-balanced bunch.
