In 12 years at ND he averaged 3.8 losses per year so he is exactly on pace for that at LSU. He is who he is.

Kelly is in zero danger of losing his job anytime soon. He'll be fine. He's year two of inheriting 30 something scholarship players.

If LSU gets dick punched by Bama again next year, his arse is gonna start getting real toasty. LSU is becoming like Auburn, beat Bama and all is well.

I would guess he has 3 more seasons to turn it around, and if in year 3 he has three or four losses, he will be shite canned along with Woodward

Honestly at least 5 years. Then you can start talking about a hot seat. That is if he is around 9-4/10-3. Immediate hotseat if he has a 2022 Jimbeaux season. We did it to Ed O 2 years after a championship.

You are a LSU fan? Why are you asking the question, like you are hoping he gets fired so Alabama can hire him? Did you think Coach Saban would be fired after losing to ULM?

Everybody said this. He is gonna win a huge game every year, have a bad loss and then a bunch of games that could either way. The counter was, well he has better talent than at ND but he also plays a helluva lot tougher schedule at LSU than at Notre Dame. He reminds me of Billy Curry. You knew you were gonna be good but never great.
I know this. Miles was goofy as everything but I don't miss playing his defenses. They were hell. Kelly's defenses have never been great no matter where he was coaching.

Previous stops dont matter when coaches have came to LSU in the past 2 decades, how is it people still havent learned this after Saban/Miles/Coach O? Why does nobody talk about their previous stints before coming to LSU now? Is it because they all managed to win much better here? Kelly also has won at every stop he's been to previously, for whatever reason people act like he was some underachiever or something. The guy won national titles before, won at CMU, Cincinnati and ND.

Kelly did a good job at ND, the guy got them to the NCG and had an undefeated season. People act like ND should be Bama or Ohio State, they arent that and havent been in a very long time. He won at least 10 games 6 of his last 7 seasons at ND. 3 of his last 4 seasons were 11 wins or more. Weis failed before him at ND, Willingham failed before him at ND, Davie failed before him at ND. The alst time ND had a truly great season before Kelly got there was 1993 Lou Holtz

When it looked like ND would become the next Nebraska after Lou Holtz he ended up winning and winning a lot more than the previous coaches did and taking them to heights they hadnt gotten to in decades.

But the offense was absolute garbage.

So, for now, the UNO reverse card.

If the Gumps keep taking out QB's and key players, it may be quicker than you think.

He can lose 3-4 next year, but there has to be improvement in the program. The problem on defense is a mix of talent, depth, and scheme. Last year we had to legit corners, both of whom are playing on Sundays. We lost some depth at D Line and LB. Likewise, Brooks diagnosis left the defensive backfield without any experience or leadership. Next year we will rebuild at WR/QB, but should have a stout running game. This will help Nuss and the new receivers. Recruiting wise, can’t miss this year or next on DB’s or DL. No room for error there. If he misses on recruiting this year and loses 3-4 next year with a similar disaster in defense , his seat will be extremely hot in 2025.

Awhile. They paid Kelly like we paid Fisher. The LSU AD did a good job of fleecing both A&M and LSU.

I think some people still don’t realize how much of a dumpster fire O left us with. Kelly overachieved in year 1 which for better or worse set some big expectations

No, that win vs. Bama and for many old timers beating Lane 45-20 in Tiger Stadium (yes for older LSU fans the Ole Miss game is still viewed as a "rival game") and getting to the West already has goodwill with the powers that be and rationale fans (all LSU fans are not rationale).

The Key for Kelly is identifying areas on the defensive side the ball relative to recruiting, development of players and coaching (which does not mean the coaches LSU has do not know football, they do, but getting that to the players).

LSU is around 100th in total defense and around 90th in scoring defense. LSU fans have had years when our offense stunk, not that we liked it, but we had many of those.

But throughout every coach and era, LSU has generally played physical defense and got after people, this is swiss cheese looking and that is going to get the natives restless if it isn't addressed next year, in my view.

Not to hijack your topic, but WTH was Kelly talking about after the game when he said "He (BDJD) was good tonight. He wasn't great." WTH ??? WTF ???

Daniels was your whole freaking team, Brian. On the tipped INT, he even made the tackle. WTH else did you expect him to do - play defense also, ala, Hunter with Coach Prime's team?

I can see why ND players didn't shed many tears of sorrow when he left.

He looked and sounded like an absolute dumbass talking about Daniels

Embarrassing

He didn't word it very well in the press conference but he explained in another interview.

He was basically saying the offense had to be perfect to win the game because of how bad the defense was and the offense wasn't perfect.

Jayden also started getting rattled and running around too much instead of making his reads, like he did last year.

There were a couple of plays where he scrambled when he had guys wide open downfield who probably score.

There is a job opening at Alabama. Saban needs somebody to wash his new Mercedes.
