I can get into the purple lots on Friday after 4:30 and set up my tailgate (modest as it will be). Just leave my stuff or my car overnight and come back the next day. Is that true?

I've looked the map over until I'm blue in the face and I don't understand where the Game-Game Parking is located... it say's blue, but I don't find any blue place on the map. Suggestions?

There are some comments on parking in the thread, but again - LSU fans will answer this, I'm sure.

There is another thread on the Mizzou board, not sure if there's anything in it on parking or not. But the guy that started it is an LSU fan, and he said he would check the thread and answer people's questions.

The law school is a nice place to park and tailgate. We tailgate on the north east corner, if your in the area. There have been some great suggestions on here about what to do. I'll swap you out some Jambalaya for one of those beers.....

Several posters have already hit the high points.

Bars: Like they said - Tigerland if you're less than 25 (Fred's and Bogies) Fred's has a great Friday special (open bar 8-10) if you're in town. If you're older, I'd stick to either beers at the Chimes/Walk-Ons or head down town (third street). Live after 5 will have live music on Friday downtown by the old state capital.

Restaurants: Chimes, Sammy's, Jolie Pearl, ACME, City Pork, Rock-n-Sake, and Digiulio Brothers are all good and within a couple miles or campus.

Tailgating: Biggest mistake is thinking its a sprint and not a marathon. Night game in Tiger Stadium = Lots of day drinking. Don't forget to bring some water with ya to stay hydrated. There are port-a-potties all around campus so that shouldn't be a problem using the bathrooms, and like people have said, be prepared to be "tiger-baited" then given a big plate of deliciousness.

Must See:
-Mike's habitat is on the North side of the stadium
-The LSU band walks down Victory Hill on the north east side of the stadium and plays hold that tiger and everyone goes nuts.

Indy, the game by game parking areas are the streets shaded blue. There are parking spots on the side of those streets. You are better off parking in one of the purple lots.

We park in the Old Front Nine purple lot south of campus. As long as you get out there by 9-930 you should be able to get a spot no problem.

Hey "crazyaboulsu" Do you set up your tailgate the night before or do you wait until the morning and just get there early?

I'll be in a Yukon Denali and I'll have my Tiger Flag up. How will i know your tailgate?

semotruman,
Thanks for starting this thread and thanks to all the LSU fans for your great suggestions.

Really looking forward to this trip. My wife and I try to make at least one road trip per year, and as soon as the schedule came out I booked this one, especially since we won't be back for another 12 years. SEC road trips are 100X better than Big XII-I-I+II-I-I trips. Ever been to Lawrence, KS in November? Don't.

I'm looking foward to the tailgate experience, Cajun food, and hanging out with LSU fans as much as the game, and far more than getting drunk and not being able to remember anything. I guess that comes with age.

My parents tailgate right in front of the law school on the Dalrymple side. Every Friday evening they drop off my dad and their friends cars(Yukon and explorer) and leave them over night. They usually show up the next morning around 9 am to unpack the cars and set the tailgate up. I wouldn't set your tailgate up Friday night if you plan on leaving.

Get to campus early. Walk around campus. Make sure to walk through The Parade Grounds, The Quad, The LSU Union, the circumference of the stadium, the Tiger cage, and then around 1:00 or so end up near the Indian Mounds. This is a great spot for tailgating. Plus it is a great spot to be when the teams arrive and the LSU band and team walk down the hill to the cheers of the crowd. Wear your colors, smile and just find a big group and say "mind if we join in" and then enjoy free food and booze. Louisianians love to entertain, it's in our DNA.

Get into the stadium one hour before kickoff and find your seats quickly. The pregame videos and of course the band is excellent and you can feel the tension building. Getting to your seats early is key to enjoying the full experience.

The atmosphere should be great. Enjoy yourselves.

We just go out in the morning. Somewhere between 7 and 7:30 am.

I drive a blue ford Dually. it is usually parked right in front of me. that's the easiest way I can tell you. Everyone has purple and gold tents...LOL.

Parker Coliseum is prime so you have to get there early like 8-9 am if crowd is big and I expect this one to be. the best thing here is that you will routed out to I-10 via Stanford.

Vet School is more convenient but you will get bogged down in the mire of post game traffic possibly for 1-2 hrs.

Oh and for you cold blooded Yanks... The weather is high of 83 and 0% chance of rain. Shorts and a Polo will be plenty. You will get to see why we like night games. We do this when it is still >90 down here. Day games in Sept are brutal in TS.

This is excellent info, thank you. I hate waiting in traffic after games. I just looked at the parking map again. It looks like the Parker lots are free. Can I leave a car there Friday night?

Another parking option is state street on north side of campus. Private home owners rent parking spots in their yards for around $20. It's right off campus and fairly easy traffic leaving the game. It also puts you closer to parade grounds, victory hill, etc. Don't venture much further north to park, because those are sketchy areas.

Get there early in the morning and wear comfortable shoes/clothes. Tailgates will be everywhere. You will be "Tiger baited" funny, I know since you're Tigers too. People will be very hospitable. If you want to see all the RV's in touchdown village, that should be done earlier in the day because it's on the south side of campus. Lots of good food and drink over there too. Alex Box Stadium is also worth a look.

Pace yourself with the alcohol and drink a water every few drinks. It's going to be a long day of revelry. Watch our team and band march down the hill, go see Mike the tiger and get in your seats an hour before kickoff. Best pregame show in college football! It will be a fired up crowd for sure!

I hope you enjoy good food, drink, hospitality and the pleasure of looking at some of the most beautiful women in the country!

I remember a game in Manhattan, kansas the weekend of Thanksgiving. I thought I would freeze to death in that hell hole. I've never had any interest in going back there. Road trips in the big 12 were awful.
