Just like when LSU fans started chanting during "My Old Kentucky Home". Not only some fans got their arse beat...so did the team.

There is a time for a tribute and a place, between quarters is not that place; as both bands at a football game normally play 1 and sometimes up to 3 songs.

The best time in a football game is halftime and that time for a tribute is normally taken from the home band, if the opponent brings it's band it too plays at halftime.

I doubt Florida even told the LSU band about the tribute until surprise we are doing a tribute.

Bands in todays game get few chances to play full songs and halftime, between quarters, pre game and end of the game are about it. The piped in music at games has to end, universities have bands and can easily do tribute music.

Per tiger band Facebook

quote:

Clarification on the 3-4th quarter situation last night. As is customary and tradition for LSU for every game over several decades, at the end of the 3rd quarter Tiger Band always plays Pregame/Touchdown for LSU. The plan was for LSU to honor their decades-old tradition while Florida honored their singing tradition simultaneously. Then right after LSU finished their 'Pregame' then a tribute was to ensure. To help facilitate this, the LSU band started their Pregame tradition early with :10 seconds remaining in the 3rd quarter. At no time was it the intentions of Tiger Band to disrespect or interrupt a tribute of someone we consider a musical icon.
