I wanted to see how they stacked up against power 5 teams and how those numbers compared to each other. So I totaled up the offensive and defensive numbers vs power 5 teams. This eliminates Eastern Michigan and Western Kentucky from LSU's statistics and eliminates Middle Tennessee and ULM from Alabama's statistics. Becuase who on either side cares that the other team dominated Directional State Tech University.

I posted this on the rant and it turned into a wall of numbers so I'm going to leave out the numbers for each game and just post the comparison. If anyone wants to see those, let me know and I'll post them.

LSU
Mississippi State
Auburn
Syracuse
South Carolina
Florida

Alabama
Wisconsin
Ole Miss
UGA
Arkansas
A&M
Tennessee

LSU totals (5 games)
Offense 2294 yards 732 passing 1562 rushing
Defense 1528 yards 1069 passing 459 rushing

Alabama totals (6 games)
Offense 2540 yards 1389 passing 1151 rushing
Defense 1839 yards 1306 passing 533 rushing

Per game Averages:
~Offenses
LSU: 459 yards 146 passing 312 rushing
Bama: 423 yards 232 passing 191 rushing

~Defenses
LSU: 305.6 yards 213.8 passing 91.8 rushing
Bama: 306.5 yards 217.6 passing 88.8 rushing

Not really a comparison of who played stronger teams. Just a look at the numbers un-skewed by the mismatched rent a wins. Really surprising that the defenses are nearly identical as far as yardage goes. Looks like the makings of another close one.

Why haven't y'all been able to hold anyone except Miss State under 20 points? And even they scored 19. Bama has only allowed two teams to score over 20.

One of them we gave the ball 5 times (mostly inside our own 30), and the other got a kick return for a TD that put them over 20.

Alabama has played no one that was as bad as a Syracuse team playing their 5th string freshman walk on Qb

Simple, blown coverages. Something we've stressed and worked on during the bye week and this week. Hopefully we straightened it all out.

Also, Dak is a damn good QB.
Auburn put up 21
Syracuse 24 - blown coverage
Eastern Michigan 22 - blown coverage
South Carolina 24
Florida 28 - ST gave them 14 points, 1 muffed punt on own 5 yard line and a punt return for TD
West. Kent - 20 points

Technically our D hasn't given up more than 24 points in a game this season which only happened TWICE.

As I mentioned earlier, if these blown coverages were taken care of over the past couple weeks, they'll hold their end come Saturday.

Im looking fwd to it you gump

I wanna play this game!

One of them we gave up a kick return that put them over 20. Otherwise they would have scored 17.

One of them we gave them the ball at the 13 yard line and they scored a touchdown on 4th down and also allowed a punt return for TD. :( the difference between 14 points and 28 points.

And..?
LSU has benefited greatly by some outlier in just about every game they've played this season so far. With only two of the teams they've played being any good (MSU and UF)

MSU missed a fg to win the game after getting a penalty to make the try over 50 yds

Syracuse played a freshman 5th string walk on Qb

Florida lost their starting Qb the week of the lsu game

WKU is a pretty good passing offense. It storms throughout the game vs lsu

USCe players were more worried about where they and their loved ones were gonna live instead of a football game. A football game that was to be played at home but got moved the week of the game to tiger stadium

Listen here, Finkle.

Say what you want but I'm taking LSU's D over Bama's any day of the fricking week.

Boy, I hope Coker doesn't pass all over us this weekend

I think the ST mistakes by LSU are overplayed concerning this game IMo, but I have never seen LSU with this kind of special team mistakes. As a matter of fact I was usually envious of LSU special teams play in particular field goals.
