I wouldn't want to see Kirby go to LSU. Smart has been Saban's right hand man and one of our best recruiters...especially in Georgia.

Out of the names I've heard so far, Kirby would be my favorite. Though I don't know how our personnel would fit his scheme at first.

I'd be cool with Kirby leaving if Pruitt were put in his place. I think Saban and a Smart are too much alike defensively and one or the other doesn't bring anything fresh to stop the HUNH. Pruitt figured out how to defend the Boog offense in the second half of the national championship last year and beat the hell out of them with Georgia this year. I think Pruitt is the next up and comer and I want him on Bamas staff even if it means losing Kirby. If we can't get Pruitt then I hope Kirby hangs around.

Agree. Smart is in a great position as a DC, but he is hurt if he wants to be a Head Coach. As long as he is under Saban, he will never get credit for the D when they are good and take most of the criticism when they are bad.
At a school like LSU, where Les Miles does not "dabble" with the defense, he would own it, win or lose.

It will make the REC's life easier to have Alabama controlling LSU's defense.
