Bobby is a friend first and foremost. I've known him since before he was ever elected to Congress, and I've worked for him as well.

I do support him. Yes, and unequivocally.

This is a sports message board so let's get back on topic.

Well I can understand if you know him personally, but I agree let's avoid straying off topic w/r/to politics.

Solid use of dwindling funds

I'm pretty sure you know that the LSU's athletic department is on every (Top 10) list for revenue and profit. The problem is the state government. If your post said something along the lines of...Louisiana has the worst (run) state government in the entire US...you would probably be correct. Here are some facts which may put things into perspective:

La has ~16% of the population of Texas ( 4.3m vs 26.9m) but the state budget is ~30% of the State of TX budget (29b vs 99b). On a per/capita basis, the State of TX budgets $3,680 while the State of La spends $6,744.19. The State of Alabama budgets $5,833 on a per/capita basis. If you compare La & Ala across the board, they are very close except in one category. The State of La contributes 43b in Federal Taxes while the State of Alabama contributes only 23b. If anyone is calling La "poor" you should do some research and maybe look to the east for some better examples of "poor".

When you look at the financials on for the State of La, the real shame is that it SHOULD have the best schools and infrastructure in the country. I had to move from La. ~12 years ago and it was one of the hardest things I've ever had to do. Every time I take one of my kids to school, I get to see why it was the best decision I could have made. When the student population reaches a certain level, they build another school. We don't add a fricking "butler building" or double-wide trailer to accommodate the growing capacity.

The issues in Louisiana have nothing to do with a lack of funds. It's how they use the funds that are available. I'd guess that ~75% of the entire workforce within the state of La would be fired within 90 days at any other job. I've seen it firsthand as we lease several offices/warehouses to a specific branch of the state. They find a way to utilize 6 FTE for what should be a part-time job. I also see it when we are engaged with one of the state agencies in my current job. Lazy, incompetent MFers... It basically comes down to most of those employees are stealing tax dollars but it's OK as long as they stick together to protect those jobs! That fricking governer (Jindal) made lot's of promises...then decided that he'd spend his time promoting himself for a presidential run. Sorry for the rant...but that's a really shitty situation that effects millions of people.

This is bad news for LSU. This is how Tennessee's AD got into the predicament they are in right now. They blindly funneled millions of dollars per year to the University side even when revenue dropped. Recipe for disaster IMO

LSU's finances are a mixed bag. On the one hand, you've got LSU Athletics making bank and giving to academics - - - - on the other hand you've got the school President poor mouthing to the media for damn near 6 months and alledging that he was "preparing bankruptcy papers" just a few short months ago. WTF?

LSU's AD and TAF are fine. The university has a higher level of state funding than most schools and that is why the student's loan debt is so low even with the student fee funding for a damn lazy river. LSU also refuses to stop wasting money on unneccessary things (i.e $100K/yr for a vice president of diversity) and refuses to do simple things like online classes which are 50% cheaper and bring in more students to the university. LSU is just like any other public institution they have their hand in the piggy bank and don't want to take it out. The bankruptcy cry was nothing but politcal bs to keep 8% of the budget from being cut. LSU's president Alexander is a POS and I hope they give that f**king cry baby the boot. I wouldn't mind making Alleva the next president. The president's biggest job is to raise and manage money and Alleva can do that.

Leftist trying to harm the Republican governor's presidential chances.

Someone in Washington asked/told him to do it and he complied... There's really no more to it than that.

Of all the announced GOP candidates, the left fears a Jindal presidency the most.

Whiskey Tango Foxtrot?

Are you serious?

I am not a Jindal hater by any means but it is obvious that Jindal doesn't have a shot in hell of winning the white house. It is ashame that he chickened out on reforming and fixing the public sector problems in Louisiana, because he was a huge success for the private sector.

I'm not sure if you understand what lobbying is or what a University President is hired for. To make this simple for you, by bringing up the worst case scenario 24/7 you create a following to your cause. The school was not going to shut down. Putting pressure on the politicians worked and LSU didn't have to show their bluff. After all, Jindal and a few politicians have committed career suicide over this ordeal.

Think TWOT. "Iraq has nuclear weapons/WMDs" -- people are like "Holy shite we must invade" -- replace WMD with shutting down and invade with donate/bash Jindal

That's fine, I didn't work that hard in it. Surprised you felt strongly enough for your 44th post in two years?
