I hate OSU more than about anybody but Gundy runs a decently clean program and knows how to win consistently with 2 star recruits. Hes developed some great RBs and WRs over the years and always has a pretty good Line on both sides of the ball. Would be a home run IMO.

He has hit his ceiling at OSU and he knows it. Trust me.

why would he leave his alma mater for a lateral move. And give up T Boone Pickens money. Kinda like leaving Nike money.

Kind of wish he would end up at LSU. Would make hating them even easier.

He tried to leave after last season.
He basically lobbied for other jobs.

So LSU is going to spend $15M to get rid of Les, $5M + the bidding war with T. Boone Pickens in order to buyout Gundy?
That's some Tennessee level of financial irresponsibility

LSU is not a lateral move from OSU. Especially with the direction the big 12 is going after 2020.

You guys realize he was open about interest in other jobs last year right?
Posted on 11/22/15 at 5:24 pm to Boomer00
Yes, he wanted the Florida job. That doesn't mean LSU is gonna blow $20M+ for him

I'm not interested in talking about Gundy, but you people need to stop acting like LSU is going to be paying $20 mil for a new coach in 2016.
Miles buyout is 50% upfront with the rest being paid over 8 years.
ETA: i think he also has the option to take the entire sum over the course of 8 years in $158,000 monthly payments.

Even if you factor in TVM that's almost $20M

No he didn't. He leveraged his worth for a bigger contract and more control over the team.

I understand the time value of money, but the difference in paying $12 million, at most, and $20 million in 2016 is substantial. It's why using the buyout for Miles as a reason why he won't be fired isn't a good argument.
Now, if you want to use LSU having to pay the buyout for a coach like Jimbo, or another coach with a long contract at their current school, you have a solid argument.

So Gundy is going to voluntaily go from being expected to beat Bob Stoops to being expected to beat Nick Saban?

Gundy would have an LSU putting up 50 pts a game with the WRs and RBs LSU gets. What an idiotic comment.
