2010 - Anthony Ranaudo (1st/Comp A) (39th)
Career MLB Stats (2014-2016) : 7.01 ERA, .274 BAA, 1.59 WHIP, 86 IP, 93 H, 67 ER, 44 BB, -1.5 Career WAR

2012 - Kevin Gausman (1st) (4th)
Career MLB Stats (2013-2017) : 4.31 ERA, .271 BAA, 1.37 WHIP, 522.1 IP, 552 H, 250 ER, 161 BB, 7.0 Career WAR

2014 - Aaron Nola (1st) (7th)
Career MLB Stats (2015-2017) : 4.31 ERA, .259 BAA, 1.27 WHIP, 233.2 IP, 234 H, 112 ER, 62 BB, 4.5 Career WAR

2017 - Alex Lange (1st) (30th)
N/A

Thoughts? Ranaudo basically is what he is at this point, which is not very good. Gausman shows signs of life once every 5-6 starts, but at this point he's about to be past the point of no return (at least for Baltimore, will get plenty of reclamation opportunities though). I think Nola is figuring things out and is still going to be a really good #2/#3 guy in Philly.

If our Allard, Anderson and Wright (Braves Top 10 picks last 3 years) get shelled in majors (or minors) and our GM trots that out as the reasoning I'm..........well I'm not going to be very happy.

For the right price I'd be all in on taking Gausman and trying to fix him. The stuff is still there.

Lange is likely a bullpen guy since he only really has 2 pitches. I'd actually really like to see if he could move into a closer role with that knuckle curve.

My Yankees slaughtered him not too long ago.

Baltimore's track record with young pitchers is pretty shitty. I think Gausman still has a future as a #2/3 type.

Of all fanbases you'd think the 'Stros would understand the process of a rebuild.

Astros
2011 : 56-106 (35%)
2012 : 55-107 (34%)
2013 : 51-111 (35%)
2014 : 70-92 (44%)
2015 : 86-76 (58%)
2016 : 84-78 (52%)
2017 : 42-22 (67%)

Braves
2015 : 67-95 (41%)
2016 : 68-93 (42%)
2017 : 28-36 (44%)

Right on track my friend

Sooo let's revisit this in 2020?

As for today, the Braves suck.

Yea, I'd love to fleece them in a month. They are desperately trying to win in Machado's last year and their pitching is a flaming dumpster fire.

If Baltimore gives up on Gausman after a bad half season they're absolutely incompetent. This is a guy who was a 3 win pitcher in the AL East at 25 years old just last year.

Nola is settling in and Gausman is hit or miss. Ranaudo's stats speak for themselves. He's not great.

But those are a lot better than UF's 1st Rd picks.

2016 AJ Puck
2016 Dane Dunning- A
2013 Jonathon Crawford- Still in A
2012 Brian Johnson- with Boston doing ok

His peripheral numbers have nose-dived, too. So hopefully it's just a mechanical thing

K/9
2015 : 8.3
2016 : 8.7
2017 : 6.1

BB/9
2015 : 2.3
2016 : 2.4
2017 : 4.4

He's also giving up much harder contact, which explains his higher BABIP number, lower GB%, lower LOB% and higher HR/9 numbers. And, as anybody from Atlanta knows, Roger McDowell isn't the best in dealing with young kids working through things.

This. Jake Arrieta says hello.

Maybe Geausman figures it out in Baltimore, or maybe he's traded and reaches his peak. Who knows.

ETA: Arrieta is a vet now, but started off with Baltimore and was shipped off
