Oh, okay. I thought the team looked different Saturday night from years past when Petrino was there.
My bad.

what does that have to do with anything? petrino wsn't fired for being a douchebag. he could have kept his job and kept being a douchebag.

But the evidence suggests that he just wasn't that interested in the defensive side if the ball.

TigerCard, yes that was definitely an open question. I think part of it was a bad wrap from some recruiting misses. He seemed to be pretty good about recruiting to our needs. When we needed DL depth, he signed what looked like a pretty good class at DL. Unfortunately, a handful of them got kicked off the team for off-the-field improprieties. I doubt he would ever have created an LSU or Bama type D, but I think we would have built more depth on D than we've had in ages.

All this tells me Petrino has no buisness being a head coach. He is a OC and should stick to that

this makes absolutely no sense. the teams, while he was there, did extremely well.

that the teams fall apart after he leaves only tells me that he's such a good HC, he's able to hide a lot of major flaws.

Against most of the teams you played - yes. But when you played top-tier competition the flaws were exposed.

Getting your doors blown off by either LSU or Bama last year would be excusable - but the fact that both housed you by such a wide margin speaks to the limits of BP's ability as a head coach.

As an offensive game planner there's probably nobody better in the game right now. But that's only half the game.

I disagree with you.

He was fired for being a cheat, dishonest and a liar, in other words, a douchebag.

Interesting...the same thing happened quite a bit at UL. In fact, of the players in his last recruiting class there, only a handful ever ended up playing for the Cards. Some had injuries, and a couple didn't ever make the grades, but quite a few were dismissed for various infractions. One of the starting DBs on the Orange Bowl team was arrested shortly thereafter for armed robbery. (He tried to hold up a convenience store with an assault rifle, if I'm remembering correctly!) In other words, character didn't count too much with him if you could play. (Of course, I guess you have to BE a high-character person in order to value it in others.)
