I'll take Vern, with all his warts, over LH any day of the wk. LH has been way over the hill for yrs, much like Mushhbegggger too, in my opinion. TV announcers in their 70's have lost all touch with the modern game. Keith Jackson, who I loved, almost stayed too long. I just thank God Bobby Bowden has no interest in any broadcasting job.

VERNE IS A GODDAMN LEGEND!

Think how many folks have gotten smashed playing the Verne drinking game?

As for Lou, love him or hate him, he did get the SEC mentioned on ESPN a lot. Would rather have Lou pumping the SEC than Brent pumping the B1G and PAC.

Next clown up, Spurrier. Love you Stevie but you have been reduced to a side show. Self inflicted.

Who would wanna get rid of guys like Holtz and Verne? They bring a much needed light hearted element to everything.

Check out the Old Ball Coach's record the past 3-4 yrs. He's brought another dormant program up to the top tier of the league once more. And don't kid yourself, he knows exactly what he's saying & his reasons are usually spot on. I hated him at UF for openly running up the score on out manned opponents but have always loved his honesty & outspokenness. And I've heard from a good gator friend that what he said behind closed doors of booster functions was 10 times as frank & open compared to his public comments.

He didn't have closed door booster gatherings at UF. That's how all the quotes get out.

I liked him but I thought he was becoming a Characture of himself and was becoming a predictable emotion with predictable comments.

Well said and I agree. He's established and successful enough not to need the quotes. Why lower yourself to that level?
