Why are you talking about a 30 year old play in a thread you started about Saturdays game?

LOL. And the Coates catch that cost AU 7 in the early part of the game. Nobody got screwed here, UGA. Officiating was pretty bad, but as it worked out, it didn't impact the final score.

Auburn demolished UGA, UGA seized an opportunity with a fantastic comeback, took the lead on a very dubious score, and Auburn snatched it back with a fateful TD.

I just don't think you can get solidly beaten for 45 minutes, take the lead on a sketchy call and then claim Auburn just lucked out. The play involved luck, no doubt, but Auburn positioned itself well to win that game, just as Georgia was able to do in the final quarter.

Nope, watch the video, the ball was just overthrown and he had no chance at catching it cleanly. The two UGA players had perfect position and there was nothing he could do about it in terms of catching it on its original trajectory.

Definitely a lucky bounce, but he did a good job of securing the ball when it bounced to him.

Trailing on 4th and 18 with under a minute to go is not a good position to win a game.

Didn't UGA convert a 4th and 18 against Auburn a few years back in one of these matchups?

The Coates play was at the 4. 1st down at the 4. You guys got a 1st and goal at the 7 and could not get 7. 3 yards difference is what you're really talking about.

"Lucky" is having the ball tipped right to you on what was, quite honestly, an awful play call (who throws a hail mary with only one receiver downfield? Richt has even said that they were expecting it to be a 20 yard curl for the first down).

The Belue-to-Scott play was simply a great third down pass from the goal line that converted the first down and then turned into a foot race for the endzone. There was nothing lucky about it, just fortunate that it happened when it did. UGA would have still had time to keep driving had Scott not scored on that play.

Ask the LSU fan (I59) that brought it up. Again, try and keep up.

It was not a bad play call. NM also had Coates crossing underneath and he was past the first down markers wide open. It was a bad read on his part.

It was actually a pretty good play call. Sammy Coates was wide open running across the field for about a 30 yard play. Marshall just threw it to the wrong guy and it worked out.

Come on,Bud. A 93 yard touchdown pass with under a minute left to win a game by 5 wasn't lucky?

Does it being lucky make you feel ANY better about it?

He quit on it. Also Marshall said he was "all in" on the hail mary and never looked to see he had another player wide open.

Well, Im not in support of another one of these threads but the answer to your question is yes. If you watch the interview of Gus and Marshall directly after the game, you will notice them talking about having worked on said play and how great of a job they had done. According to them, luck was not involved. However, I think its time to put it to rest.
