Miami traded away the number 3 pick in this year's draft.
Another trade:

The first blockbuster trade of the NFL draft season has come, with the San Francisco 49ers reportedly acquiring the No. 3 overall pick from the Miami Dolphins.
Per ESPN's Adam Schefter, the 49ers will send two 2021 draft picks, including the No. 12 selection and a third-rounder (No. 102 overall), along with first-round picks in 2022 and 2023.

As they should. He is a good QB.
It would be insane for a team to move on from a 1st round pick that quickly.

Agreed. But, there were stories coming out of Miami that they weren't sold on him. I think he can be damn good if he can stay on the field.

Boy miami is gonna have something special if he can continue to develop as a downfield passer.
Hes had the same troubles as joe burrow. For some reason they have lost the deep ball accuracy they were known for.
The dolphins can still pick a qb but they need to wait till later imo. Maybe a Kyle trask in the 3rd or 4th round just in case

Those were dumb hot takes. He was coming off a hip injury that everyone seemed to forget about. He deserves a full, healthy season to sink or swim. Regardless, the Dolphins really seem to be building something.

These deals are such no-brainers for the team receiving the extra picks and usually horrible moves for the team giving them up. Picking a QB in the draft is about like picking individual stocks. The data continues to show that draft and stock analysts are horrible decision makers so you shouldn't pay a premium price to try to gain an advantage. In all likelihood the QBs available at 12 will be just as likely to pan out as the one the 49ers want at #3. Or you go land an elite non-QB at #12. That is an insane amount of draft capital to give up to end up landing the 3rd best QB available in a single draft. There is no one in this draft who is such a guaranteed winner to be worth that besides maybe Trevor Lawrence.

I disagree. I say if you see someone you want and feel you can get him then go get him

Miami solved a big issue when they moved on from their OC.

Hope you're right but I kinda wonder about having co-offensive coordinators (jmho)

Dont they have a 6
Correct. San Fran made the trade because they want a qb, and they like Trey Lance. So basically Miami gets SF's 12 th pick, a 3rd rounder, and 1st rounder in 22 and 23. They turned around traded that 12th pick and the 123rd pick to the Philadelphia Eagles for the sixth overall pick, No. 156 and a first-rounder in 2022.
Conclusion. San Fran really wants Trey Lance, and Miami really wants Chase.

Arizona drafted QB's in back to back seasons. Rosen and then Kyler Murray.

Clear move down to get Smith. No point In drafting him as high as 3 he will still be available and you get extra future picks. Smart

If Miami wanted a qb they would've kept the 3rd pick, but they want a wr, and they wheeled and dealed their 3rd, but still get their man in Chase at 6. They are real good at this.
