We'll build a statue for Nolan eventually, just waiting for Frank to die.

He had every right to lash out before they fired him.

His recruiting became lazy though.

I just wish he would have been the bigger man and not pulled out the race card.

He won a NC and was getting paid less than Houston Nutt.. smh..

Couldn't have said it any better, still love the guy

i think his legacy is still intact. he reacted badly but that doesn't tarnish one thing he did, imo.

nolan has had a hard life. the good he did for us greatly outweighs any moments of temporary rage he may have had.

Agreed. I don't buy the "his legacy is tarnished" stuff because it's a kneejerk reaction. Petrino's legacy was/is tarnished -- Nolan was just exiled for a while.

Nolan is pretty much a man about town around Fayetteville and at home basketball games now and seems to be rather enjoying it.

glad to hear that ... guy could absolutely coach bball, though i'm not sure he really gets the accolades from outsiders (outside of arky/sec) that he should ...

As an outsider far removed from any inside info, I'd always heard that he was considered a racist. Does that come from Frank Broyles' side of the termination or is there something to it?

Nolan's biggest advantage was also his biggest fault, and that was the chip on his shoulder. The man set out to prove himself as a black coach, and by God he did.

But even after going to 3 Final Fours in 6 years, winning a National Championship, and playing for another, Nolan never got the respect he thought he deserved.

Was Nolan a racist? I don't think so. But he did dwell on his perceived notion of racial inequality, whether justified or not.

I'll always love him for what he did. The 90's were unreal as a Hog bball fan.

Hated how things ended, should have been a natural turnover to Mike when Nolan was ready to leave.

Our AD made a mistake and we've paid for it ever since.

I believe he had a bit of racism in him, and who wouldn't growing up where he did, in the manner he did, during that time?

That chip on his shoulder has served him well, but he had a lot of sorrow as well. The loss of his precious daughter, continued harassment by idiots (even shot his horses). He is a man, and stood up when others would cower!
