Not sure you quite understand the issues facing them. Will they finish 13th? I don't know. But, I expect Tenn to do better than them, and it looks like Ole Miss will as well. Vandy will finish ahead of them as well. I don't know who you think they are going to climb ahead of.

Well we are on track with last year. I wasn't to displeased with last years class although not ranked highly it wasn't absolute garbage. However I do think we are behind however its just barely July. I'm not freaking out about anything with recruiting till January. We do well this year and we sell kids on post petrino. We bomb and we blame it on john l not being a good coach but look at this new guy who has to be a big name or we failed and will be irrelevant.
However more to the subject of this thread, why must Lsu fans try to be our rival? I though they hated affirm more but it appears their tradition of us being their superbowl is going to continue.

This is honest discussion. It's not some made up bs. Arky is in serious trouble, and if you don't believe that, then as the other poster pointed out, you are in denial. Can you climb from where you currently are? Possibly....but it is in all honesty not very likely. Your talent that you are bringing in currently is even well below the middle of the SEC pack. I'm not sure you understand how serious this is...but you will if things don't turn around drastically. Like I said, don't know if you are heading as low as the black bears...but in all seriousness, it may be close to that level.

threads like this used to be amusing to me, but they have gotten really old. imo, don't you think we have kicked arky (while they are down) enough? i don't esp. like arkansas but i do respect what they have done over the years considering they are such a small state. i'm gonna miss petrino. he and saban shared the darth vadar image with me and now all i have to hate is saban. another coach has to step up to fill that void. maybe muschamp?

I just think it's funny how, 6 months ago, Petrino wasn't even a great coach. "What has he ever WON?" "Chizik's a better coach, he has a MNC."
The overwhelming majority of rant fans ranked Petrino behind: Saban, Miles, Chizik, Spurrier, and even Richt.
But now, with Petrino leaving, all of the sudden it's all "Arkansas is fricked now that Petrino isn't there!"
Pick a fricking position and stay with it. Either a) Petrino was the 2nd best coach in this league and the primary reason Arkansas made it as high as we did, meaning that Arkansas will have a harsh fall back to reality. Or b) Petrino really wasn't a great coach, like you all tried to suggest months ago, and Arkansas will be just fine as long we don't hire a Nutt-y kinda guy.

I have had my issues with some arky fans but to say they will be on Ole Miss's level is just dumb. There may be some drop off but arky puts out a pretty good team every year, regardless of recruiting rankings.

Well chuck, you are entitled to your opinion. Ole Miss was in this same boat a couple years ago with a cotton bowl win. It happens fast in the SEC buddy...and especially with vandy moving up some. Arky does not have a pretty darn good team every year, that is false. They have had a couple of pretty good year...but again, they have never come close to a SEC Championship. Just look what happened to Tenn...and they were a much better program than Arky.

Petrino was a good offensive coach, a very good one. Not a great overall coach. Now, that offensive mind is gone, and you don't have a defense. That offense kept them competitive the last few years, while the defense prevented them from winning championships. Now, the offense will be completely gone after this year. Good luck.

Petrino was a great coach. I would say 3rd best due to recruiting. Saban could get 5stars to Arky so u can't use that excuse. However, he may have been #1 in game coach. Very good at adjusting and picking on weaknesses. Also, if qb has time, kept defenses off balance.
VC- I'm not saying they will be great in recruiting, never have been. They will at least be around the same rank as they usually are.
