Texas will create a separate Network called the Longhorn Network for all past content

All future broadcasts will be on SEC Network & ESPN

Texas Communication students will produce all home games on SEC Network & ESPN

I was prepared to make a joke but this is actually pretty cool.

Is this normal at other programs?

No kidding. That's like an instant shoe in to broadcasting/programming once out of school

This is what happens in the corporate world. When a failed business owns a product that is losing money, but still has some value, they sell to a competent business that can bring the inventory of the failed company into their own successful model.

It’s a cool deal for those students, but it’s a huge cost saving decision by ESPN. Their production costs are going to be a LOT cheaper every time they broadcast a game from Austin.

The Longhorn Network is the reason so many former players have made the jump to Broadcast Sports. I expect there are many more Horns that are making a living behind the camera. You know, controlling the media and all that.

It helps to have quality Journalism, Communications, and Radio, Television, & Film (RTF) curriculums for students.

The LHN broadcasts of baseball are probably better than anything other than the CWS. Texas spent money also, not just ESPN. More camera's makes for better viewing, especially on replays. Things you take for granted, until you don't have them.

It is at Mizzou. In addition to SECN, Mizzou produces and operates the local NBC station for Columbia, MO. We have been doing it since the inception of SECN.

I believe most SEC schools are doing similar.

And here I was thinking it was because they sucked as pros.

Oh wait, they do.

Yes. It was a requirement for the SECN.

All SEC schools do this.

Texas isn't special.

I believe it is a requirement for all SEC schools to have a control room(s) that can produce live events for SEC Network purposes.

Just a reminder that each and every one of you, one way or another, paid money to the Longhorn Network.

I wanted to take this moment to say thank you.

Every trip Sark takes on a private jet and every freshman at Texas who drives a Lambo, I want you guys to all know that you helped make it happen.

Buddy of mine’s daughter got her start working at LHN while in college. It was a pretty cool way to immediately gain some real world experience. Tech has something similar in marketing side I think.
