That same year, Brian Pettway bounced one off of a Jeep parked behind the left field terraces.

I remember that. I was blown away. I wish we had that power now like we did with Stephen Head and Brian Pettway.

LSU had a guy hit 40 homers. Bama had a team with four 20 homer guys. It was glorified slow pitch softball.

That was Brandon Larson, and the crazy thing was that he didn't even lead the ncaa's in HR's that year. What is even crazier, is that I would be shocked if the guy that did lead the country in HR's ever touched roids.

Those bats were obnoxious, but the new ones are too toned down.

For the new Box, Eibner's comes to mind. That shite had to have landed by the U-High field... if it's come down.

Another was actually last year, Mike Zunino hit a 9th inning bomb that probably hit Tiger Stadium before coming down. That ball was out of the park before you even realized he hit it.

Wasn't that the year Berkman lead nation with 41? We had a run at SMS that we had Hacker Hart Cepicky from 95-00 that were our power years. When Howard showed up our numbers went way down, due to bats and new parks. But HowRd was never the power guy the 3 I listed. He bacame a more power guy in minors.

Two of the longest HRs I've ever seen hit in college baseball:

1) Pedro Alvarez hit one in the SEC tournament about 4-5 yrs ago that cleared the Regions Park scoreboard and the first line of trees behind the scoreboard. Can't remember who they were playing, but it was a line-drive shot that got up and out of there in about 5 seconds. It was ridiculous.

2) Kevin Patterson against Ole Miss at Swayze Field in 2010. It was the first game of the season's final series on a Thursday night. We were down 3-2 in the eighth (or maybe it was the top of the ninth?), and he came on to pinch hit with 2 runners on against Ole Miss closer Brett Huber. Huber hung a slider, and Patterson teed off. The ball hugged the foul line, but it was a good 10-15 feet above the foul pole when it crossed the fence and landed somewhere in the back of the tennis courts beyond right field. We won 5-3. One of the farthest balls I've ever seen hit.

Man, I miss that 2010 offense...

I don't recall any specific monsters being hit, but when UNC hit that game winner in the 2006 Super Regional, I was near tears. That was the last great Alabama baseball team.

Top 2:

2. 2007 vs Vandy - Pedro Alvarez put one on our tennis courts in right on saturday (easily a 460 ft shot) then on sunday he hit one to dead center that prob went the same distance. Both were no-doubters.

1. 2009 vs Bama - Kent Mathes hit one to left field that hit the big oak tree on the rise. Swear that damn ball would have gone 500 ft + had it not hit that poor oak and taken several limbs off. I dont know if I will ever see a ball hit that hard. Oh yea he put a dent in the hitters eye in center a few innings later.

Ain't that the damn truth. Those lineups in 2005 and 2006 could mash.

Yes it was, and I really don't think he was ever on the juice.

Will Clark hit a ball back in the day that one hopped Tiger Stadium Not sure how far it went but it probably showed up on radars out at the airport. While we're at it, no ball has ever hit the apartments in left field at the Old Box. Not on the fly, not on the hop, maybe and I mean maybe on the roll.
