Yeah, I probably would have been okay with a Drinkwitz hire. I'll be interested to see how he does at Mizzou.

I think we ended up with a better hire in Pittman though. It's a bit of a gamble considering he hasn't been a head coach since he was in the juco ranks, but I liked his answer for that in the press conference. He said he's had the opportunity before now but he didn't feel like he was ready. He seems confident he is now, and if Yurachek believes in him, I'm gonna give him a shot.

I think he's going to knock it out of the park maybe.

But here's the rub, and likely why we didn't pursue Drinkwitz. The reason Pittman was a top target is because if all else fails, Pittman will have rebuilt our football team in a way that allows them to be competitive in this league. Perhaps our biggest problem currently is that Morris built these guys down. He also was having closed practices due to the fact he ran contact practices. Morris under developed our guys and didn't teach them to tackle.

Drinkwitz is in the mold of Morris in a sense and if he fails, our foundation still isn't built.

The long and short of it is Pittman is better for what we need right now, IMO. Drinkwitz may end up being great, but he carries a tremendous amount of risk for our program at this time.

Maybe, but he'll be 6-30 and fired from Arkansas before we find out

He's already coached here, moron. We already have data on how well he recruits here. He recruits very well here by our standards. Of course Georgia is always going to recruit better than we are, but you still need the best recruiters you can get and he's one of the best.

Does it make yall feel better to rag on a team like Missouri? We have our problems no doubt.

We will never be a Bama, LSU, or UGA. And we all know that. Sometimes all the pieces fall just the right way and we challenge the big boys for a year or so.

Mizzou fans aren't dumb. But hey, for real, congrats on this season. Soak it in man. Yall were due. MIZ

Why doesn’t UGA have the best o-line in the SEC currently?

I believe UGA was top 10 in fewest sacks surrendered this year. Their issue is poor play calling.

His oline here at Arkansas was #1 in sacks allowed and produced two 1,000 yard rushers in the same season.

People ragging on Pittman's coaching acumen don't pay attention to football.

I didn't say that's why he would succeed, you idiot. I said we already know how well he will recruit here because he's already done it.

And yeah, we aren't ever going to recruit at the top of the league. Never. We don't have enough people living in our state to do that. I guess that means we should just throw in the towel? Nonsense. We kicked Florida's arse the last time we played them. And if I member, it was a Pittman line that allowed that to happen. We can compete.

You gotta be the dumbest motherfricker on this board. The poster was speaking to Pittman's ability to coach oline. He's one of the best. He was the highest paid oline coach in the nation for a reason.

That team in 2015 led the nation in offensive efficiency. Averaged over 40 points per game. That was because of Pittman's line. It was no coincidence Bielema fell off a cliff the day Pittman left.

My post speaks for itself. I explained why Pittman was a better hire for us. For us.

That doesn't mean Pittman is a better coach than Drinkwitz. It just means Pittman is what we needed now. Here. At Arkansas.

Mizzou is clearly in a different position than we are and may have gotten a great hire. He's an Arkansawyer, so I will follow his career trajectory there.

Me saying I liked the Pittman hire doesn't mean I think Mizzou's Drinkwitz hire was a bad one.
