Like it or not, week one helps our national perception as a conference if we win

I can't bring myself to root for an Auburn or Tennessee, but this is a rare case that everyone doing well is good for everyone else in the league. Nobody is stealing a recruit from someone else because of a week one game- but we're playing some teams that are predicted to finish high in their respective leagues. Florida State, Clemson, North Carolina, Virginia Tech...go 1/4 and all of the sudden the ACC is the media darling.

Wisconsin will finish near the top of the big 10. If they beat LSU, and LSU finishes near the top of the SEC, now the big 10 is getting upper echelon credit.

USC and UCLA, again, predicted near the top of their league.

Obviously who we root for in these games will have no bearing on the outcome, just pointing out that despite our disdain for each other, everyone (or 6/8) winning on opening weekend could have major implications in our favor down the road.

We still need two of you to lose so we can all point and laugh. I vote Auburn and Tennessee

And once again I will give zero fricks on what the national media thinks about the league as a whole.

Fine, but that's not the whole point. League perception can affect significant things later in the year.

Does it really matter?

I HIGHLY doubt they leave a one loss SEC team out of the playoff. (If no one is undefeated)

I HIGHLY doubt they invite 2 SEC teams to the playoff.

maybe, maybe not. It would take a scenario with like 6 teams all having the same record and then combing through all possible data for that to really matter.

And as for UGA, we aren't making the playoff this year anyway so I care even less. The fate of UGA's bowl game this season isn't going to hinder on whether bama lost to usc.

Eh, I think it really only matters if you think the SEC has a legitimate shot at getting two teams in the playoffs, which I really doubt is the case. The SEC champion is getting in regardless of what happens the first week.

As do I, but it could effect seeding. Don't look now, but the ACC has a chance at getting two teams in if they're the media darlings. Undefeated Clemson and once beaten Florida state, or vice versa. Do they both get in over a two loss sec champion? It could certainly happen if the SEC shits the bed as a whole in week 1

You can hope in one hand and shite in the other bud, your team isn't sniffing a playoff anyway

I honestly think Bama, Aubie, and Ole Miss lose. Though I've been wrong plenty of times before.

I think Auburn keeps it way closer than people expect, and USC will barely edge Bama out, FSU will win decidedly but it won't be a blowout. Chad Kelly will put up points but FSU will control the game and Dalvin Cook makes a Heisman candidate reel.

I think the rest all win. Even Aggie.

Bama doesn't need any help from National Perception. And I don't want to help any of the other teams. So I hope they all lose except for Bama.

It's pretty much win-win from my POV. Either the SEC wins the majority like we usually do and we can crow about it as a group, or we can point and laugh at the ones who lose and mock them on here.

Unless LSU loses in which case I'm hate fapping
