What an entertaining thread this has turned into. Half of the posters appear to be Gamecock fans that are literally begging Auburn to beat Clemson..Watching a Coot grovel is both funny and pathetic.
I have been to a few CU vs AU games and they have a really good fan base. For the most part very classy and knowledgeable people. I'm looking forward to the game.
As for our "loses" on offense, let's talk about what we have returning..a better O-line than last year, Deion Cain that had a great season playing behind Mike Williams who also had a big Game against Bamma..There is also Hunter Renfro that is Alabama's worst nightmare.
QB is really the only question and we have very good talent at that spot if they live up to the potential.
Turnovers will decide this game. Last year we could have 4-6 turnovers in a game and still win due to Watson. We can't live on the edge like that and we have to really focus on this area. If we protect the rock, we have a great chance for beating AU...We will see.

Nahhh..it'll still be better than all those taters who have been here talking trash to us, Bama, Auburn and LSU. I don't mind Auburn talking. I can see where Bama would dread it..it's like us with the taters currently.

I like to play matchups to see where the adv/disadv are....
Stidham v. Clemson D- push...he's the real deal and will be able to take advantage over an inexperienced back 7.
AU OL v. CU DL- CU, but not by much...They might have the best DL in the country. HOWEVER, this is possibly the best OL in the country as well. We have some inexperience at LT to worry about, but we're as solid on the OL as you'll find.
AU WR/TE v. CU back 7- push...Auburn is loaded with talent, but it's unproven. Same situation w/ Clemson's back 7.

CU QB v. AU D- AU D...AU lost 2 difference makers on the DL, but we return a ton with experience and several big time guys that are a year stronger/smarter at every level.
CU OL v. AU DL- AU...they have a stud in Hyatt. Him v. Marlon Davidson and Jeff Holland all night will be fun to watch. But overall I think Auburn has enough guys to rotate 8-10 and stay fresh and keep the pressure on CU. They won't be able to run the ball, that much I can tell you.
CU WR v. AU back 7- AU...Deon Cain is a stud, but they'll need other guys to step up. Auburn returns almost every notable player in the secondary and at LB from the #7 scoring D in America last year. If Carlton Davis gets back to his frosh form, the AU secondary will be among the SEC's best.
As a roster I like Auburn better than Clemson in terms of proven talent that is back. Mostly, I know that Stidham is much better than whatever Clemson will trot out at QB this year and that will be the difference.

Clemson lost a lot and Auburn seems to be on the rise. Auburn by a couple of TD's.

For Clemson to get wrecked by AU, 2 things: 1. Clemson is a strong team overall...but they'd have to have a glaring weakness (secondary? passing game??) 2. AU would have to have a great plan to attack that weakness, and execute it very well.
Don't know enough about Clemson to know if that could be the case..but my instinct on the matter is that it's going to be a slugfest. Clemson is just too deep and well-coached to get worked over at home.

Clemson has a great defense and a DL that could be compared to the one Bama had last year.

I would be really surprised if 2 spread HUNH offenses scored a combined 27 points....
The winner of this game will probably score around 27-30 points by itself but not combined...

Thank you for the Clemson update; I missed that one. As you are so fond of saying, I'm glad we're on your mind today.
If you know anything about Dabo, it's that he plays the underdog, we don't get no respect line to the hilt. Little ol Clemson, no one believes in us, we'll just do our best and see what happens. Even two years ago going damn near the entire season ranked #1, he told anyone who would listen they weren't being respected by anyone.
If that article is what you're hanging your hopes of Clemson sucking on, you're going to be very disappointed. Which, from the sounds of your posts, you're very familiar with.
I wouldn't bet the farm on beating AU; neither fan base knows as much about the other team as our own, so it's really hard to gauge what they are expecting.
Clemson is still going to be very good, though. That's one of the benefits of playing teams like SCSt and USCe - Dabo gets to put every player on the roster on the field and wee what he has.
LB Shaq Smith and SS Isaiah Simmons might be the only ones in the two-deep without real playing experience. With the announcement that Bryant is going to be the starting QB, it appears that he's gaining confidence and playing better.
Either way, I can't wait.

That's the real rub with playing so early. Both teams will still be working off the summer rust and the team that is best prepared will prevail.
